Brendan O’Connor and Kevin Tran, both members of the class of 2017, were inducted into the Phi Beta Kappa honor society at Union College in Schenectady, New York.

Miguel Angel Paredes was honored among 21st Century Leaders at the University of Massachusetts. Paredes is a theater major who has expanded the scope of multicultural theater on campus. As a junior, he was a cast member of a production invited to perform at a festival in South Africa. He also directed two plays, including ”Dysfunctioning Just Fine,” a one-woman musical which addressed diversity through the lens of disability.

This summer he will direct and produce the play at the True Colors Fringe Festival in New York and plans to return to South Africa to study protest/applied theater at the University of Cape Town.

Maya Turriago, a student at Greenfield Community College, was inducted into Phi Theta Kappa, the international honor society of two-year colleges. Turriago also recently was awarded this year’s Bernard A. Drabeck, Ph.D. English Composition Award for best essay.


Brandon Brozek was honored during the Information Technology & Sciences honors night at Champlain College in Burlington, Vermont. Brozek is a computer networking and cyber security major.

Bry Veroneau was inducted into Tau Upsilon Alpha National Honor Society at Assumption College in Worcester. Veroneau is a student in the human services rehabilitation studies program.

Shaina Hutchinson was welcomed into Psi Chi National Honor Society at Western New England University in Springfield.

Elizabeth Amato received the Janice McPartland Award at Becker College in Worcester.
