In a new addition to the long-running and well-established Green River Festival, Signature Sounds has found the best new local bands with musicians ages 18 and under to be featured performers Friday, July 14, on the Next Wave Stage.

And the best part is: Friday night admission will be free to anyone under age 18.

Sponsored by the Valley Advocate, the five winners of The Next Wave competition will each play a set on the new Next Wave Stage.

And, later, each band will perform on Valley Advocate Sessions, a weekly mini concert filmed by NCTV and audio-recorded by Signature Sounds.

Every Friday, the Advocate posts a new four-song concert by local up-and-coming bands (as well as by better-known acts).

So who’s playing the stage on free-Friday?

Paper City Exile (South Hadley): 5:30-6 p.m. This alternative rock band from South Hadley features Dan Conway, vocals and guitar; Zeno Quinn, bass; and Jackson Silverman, drums.

Kalliope Jones (Shelburne Falls): 6:15-6:45 p.m. The vocally driven, soul-infused, indie-rock trio from Shelburne Falls includes Alouette Batteau, vocals and drums; Amelia Nields Chalfant, vocals and bass; and Isabella DeHerdt, vocals and guitar.

Court Etiquette (North-ampton): 7-7:30 p.m. The indie-rock-and-roots outfit from Northampton spotlights Isaac Bond, bass; Gabe Brodeur, vocals and guitar, Ethan Grant, keyboards; Chris Raphael-Reily, drums; and Charlie Ryan, guitar.

Nomad vs. Settler (Brattleboro): 7:45-8:15 p.m. Hailing from Brattleboro, VT, this indie-rock group’s lineup is Owen James, bass; Rei Kimura, vocals and guitar; Archer Parks, guitar; and Milou Rigollaud, drums.

Parlicium (Ashfield): 8:30-9 p.m. This indie-rock band from Western Massachusetts features Kim Chin-Gibbons, guitar, drums and vocals; Tobias LaMontagne, vocals, guitar and drums; and Lane Moore, bass, guitar and piano.

Next Wave Stage at Green River Festival: Friday, July 14, 5-11 p.m. Greenfield Community College. Free for anyone 18 or younger. Otherwise, Friday is $34.99. Green River Fest is a three-day music extravaganza with balloon rides, food, and vendors. For more information go to greenriverfestival.com.
