Purim greetings from and to all our Jewish friends and neighbors.

Wendy and Walt Koehler and David and Betsy Mullins, all of Amherst, sent a card of sights in Havana, including the castle, waterfront and ‘50s cars. They were part of a small group that visited Camaguay, Remedios and Matanza, all in Cuba. They met with musicians, dancers and artists and learned about the educational and health systems. They wrote it was a fabulous trip.

Reynolds Winslow of Amherst sent an email about a planning meeting for the Martin Luther King Breakfast Committee. Sen. Stan Rosenberg said at the January breakfast that volunteers are needed. If you want to help, meet March 10 at 10 a.m. at the Wesley United Methodist Church on North Maple Street in Hadley.

The breakfast proceeds fund scholarships for students. Thanks.

Another group helping youngsters is the Amherst Boys and Girls Club. A fundraising dinner, “Feast for the Future,” will be held March 14 at 6 p.m. at the Lord Jeff. Call Tom at 413-687-7582 for reservations. The email is crossmanproperties amherst@gmail.com.

On the Same Page, the community read sponsored by the Jones Library, is doing “The Secret Life of Wonder Woman,” by Jill Lepore. One of my book groups read it. It is quite a story and true. It makes you think that true stories are stranger than fiction

The author will speak on March 26 at 7 p.m. in the Middle School Auditorium.

The library has copies of the book.

It’s now March. The daytime temperature is in the 50s. We can still get snow, but it won’t last. Spring is coming. Is saying hooray obvious?
