Congratulations and best wishes to Kent Libby, who is retiring from the U.S. Post Office Jan. 31 after serving for 25 years. His counter was the second from the left. He was very personable and friendly and knew the names of all the regulars.

Pam White, who works at Amherst Regional High School, sent me an email about an exciting reunion. The ARHS Class of 1979 is holding its reunion at sea with a seven-day cruise to Bermuda. The trip leaves from Boston July 11, 1914 and returns July 18. There are 56 cabins being held for classmates. I expect lots of postcards.

Several area residents went to the inauguration of President Obama including Judy Brooks and Libby Klekowski and her daughter, Amanda.

I was reminded that people viewed the inauguration four years ago on a big screen television at Town Hall. It was nice to view that historic event with lots of people.

How cold was it last week? It was so cold that there was frost on the inside of three of my windows and the bottle of water that I keep in the car that is kept in the garage overnight froze.

On the other hand, it is now light at 5 p.m., good for commuters.

Save the date: The annual LSSE Winter Fest is Feb. 9 from 1 to 6 p.m. at the Cherry Hill Golf Course. The event includes the “Kardboard Klassic” race, with very imaginative cardboard box creations, the Chili Cook Off, which has provided an interesting mix of tastes over the years, and sledding, snow sculptures, music and fireworks.

Bring marshmallows for the fire pit.
