The Madonna Pentagram

The Madonna Pentagram

Music therapy

Channa A. Seidenberg, a music therapist, musician and composer from Philmont, N.Y., will give a talk Dec. 29 at 6 p.m. At the Nacul Center, 592 Main St., Amherst, about the significance of a sequence of the Raphael’s Madonna images, the “Madonna Pentagram.”

“The images invite us to look beyond their religious iconography,” Seidenberg says, “to the deeper significance of the flow of energy stimulated within us as our attention is guided through the five-pointedstar-like movement of the images in relation to one another.

After a short break, participants will view the “Madonna Series”, with Seidenberg providing lyre interpretation of each image. Seidenberg is a co-fuonder and faculty member of Resonare, a one-year foundation course in music out of anthroposophy, currently in its fifth year at her Harmonia Center for Vocal and Music Therapy. She is the founder and director of the Camphill Village Ensemble in Copake, N.Y. She provides music therapy for children and adults in Massachusetts as part of Collaborative Therapies of the Pioneer Valley, and is the co-founder and board member of the Lyre Association of North America.

Tickets cost $15, available online at MadonnaSeries.BrownPaperTickets.com, or at the door. Space is limited.
