Amherst comprehensive master planning

It's being called "the most important process we'll ever undertake in this town" and the "biggest impact" that Amherst residents can have on their surroundings and living environment. Amherst is working on a new comprehensive master plan for the town — the first one it's done since 1969, nearly four decades ago. And after years of preparation work, town planners have reached a critical stage — a series of public meetings throughout mid-October to get ideas and input from the people who will be affected most by the eventual decisions, the residents of Amherst.

The entire process is a deep one, certain to spark both ideas and debate, and the Amherst Bulletin is covering this key town issue in all of its depth. Visit this site often for ongoing coverage of the master planning developments; a rich archive of news and opinion leading up to the process; video clips, courtesy of Amherst Community Television, from ACTV's programming about the master plan process; and a forum where you can contribute ideas, commentary and observations about the master plan process and its nine major facets. Read, watch and contribute, and look to the Bulletin for everything you need to know about Amherst's comprehensive plan.
