FRIEND OF EDUCATION AWARD:

Karen David, Wildwood parent volunteer, and Lou Smith, a Fort River grandfather volunteer, will receive the Amherst Pelham Education Association Friend of Education Award Nov. 14 at 3:45 p.m. at the Regional Middle School library. The event is held during American Education Week and is free and open to the public.

ART BENEFIT:

Crocker Farm sixth-graders made facades of how New Orleans architecture could be rebuilt in Janet Winston's art class. The facades, created from box lids and colored paper, will be sold to benefit Hurricane Katrina relief. The facades, some including balconies, cost $5 and are on display at the school lobby until Nov. 23. To purchase an art piece, call Winston at 362-1662.

EVERGREEN SALE:

Pelham fifth- and sixth-graders are holding a poinsettia and wreath sale to raise funds for the annual spring trip. Six-inch red, white or pink ponsettias cost $9 while an eight-inch plant costs $20. The 12-inch evergreen wreath costs $9.50 while the 18-inch wreath costs $17.50.

The deadline for orders is Nov. 17 and the items can be picked up at the school Dec. 6.

  • Shutesbury students will be dismissed at 1 p.m. on Nov. 15 and 16 for parent teacher conferences.

  • Fort River will hold its Book Fair Nov. 14 to 18 from 9 a.m. to noon and 3 to 7 p.m. in the school lobby.

  • The Grade 8 Chorus, directed by David Ranen, and the Grade 8 Band, directed by Juli Sansoucy, will perform Nov. 17 at 7:30 p.m. in the Regional Middle School auditorium. The concert is free and open to the public.

  • Mark Meadow will hold its Catch A Rising Star Assembly Nov. 18 at 2 p.m.

  • The Shutesbury PTO will meet Nov. 14 at 7 p.m.

  • The Amherst School Committee will meet Nov. 15 at 7 p.m. in the high school library.

  • The Shutesbury School Committee will meet Nov. 16 at 6:15 p.m.

  • The Leverett Playground Committee will meet Nov. 17 at 5:30 p.m.

    LUNCH MENU

    MONDAY: French toast sticks, hash brown potatoes, oranges.

    TUESDAY: Toasted cheese sandwich, chicken noodle soup, baby carrots with dip.

    WEDNESDAY: Spanish chicken, Spanish rice, special dessert.

    THURSDAY: Turkey, gravy, stuffing, mashed potato, butternut squash, cranberry sauce, special dessert,

    FRIDAY: Cheese pizza wedge, celery and carrot sticks with dip.

    All meals include milk and fresh fruit or fruit cup.
