Amherst Police
* A 22-year-old Amherst man will be summoned to court on a charge of violating an abuse prevention order after he made a phone call to his ex-wife's home in an incident reported to police Monday at 12:01 p.m., police said.
* Two men are being summoned to court on charges of assault and battery following separate incidents at a West Street home, police said.
A 48-year-old Clinton man will be summoned to court on a charge of assault and battery after he punched a 21-year-old Amherst man in the nose during an altercation Sunday at 6:14 p.m., police said.
The Clinton man was at the home to recover the belongings for his daughter, who allegedly suffered a black eye and bruises on her body in an incident Feb. 5 at the home where she had been living.
The 21-year-old Amherst man will be summoned to court on a charge of assault and battery for allegedly inflicting the injuries on the woman, police said.
* A 22-year-old Amherst man will be summoned to court on a charge of shoplifting after he fled the CVS Pharmacy on University Drive without paying for $13.48 in merchandise Sunday at 12:15 p.m., police said.

* A 19-year-old Millis man, a 19-year-old North Brookfield man and a 19-year-old Scotch Plains, N.J. woman will be summoned to court on charges of being minors in possession of alcohol following incidents on Main Street and East Pleasant Street Feb. 7 at 8:25 p.m. and Sunday at 12:58 a.m. and 2:22 a.m., police said.
* The following people were arrested Feb. 7 at 12:55 a.m. and 10:27 p.m. and Sunday at 1:06 a.m. on Phillips Street, Sunset Avenue and College Street on charges of being minors in possession of alcohol and and violating the town's open container bylaw, police said:
Gregory S. Miller, 19, of Randolph; Megan K. O'Rourke, 18, of Wrentham; and Spencer M. Ross, 20, of Needham.
* The following people will be summoned to court on charges of being minors in possession of alcohol and violating the town's open container bylaw, following incidents on Sunset Avenue, North Pleasant Street, Lincoln Avenue, Phillips Street and Hobart Lane between Feb. 7 at 1:23 a.m. and Sunday at 12:39 a.m., police said:
An 18-year-old Hillsborough, N.J. woman; an 18-year-old Revere man; a 19-year-old Andover woman; two 19-year-old Stoughton women; and a 20-year-old Danvers man.
The Hillsborough, N.J. woman will also be summoned to court on a charge of possession of a fake ID, police said.
* A 42-year-old Leverett man will be summoned to court on charges of operating an unregistered motor vehicle, operating a motor vehicle with a revoked license and operating a motor vehicle with a miscellaneous motor vehicle equipment violation following a traffic stop on North Pleasant Street Feb. 7 at 9:28 p.m., police said.
* Sicheng Peng, 22, of Ashland, was arrested Feb. 7 at 2:40 a.m. on Pine Street on charges of operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol, failure to stop/ yield and failure to stay within marked lanes, police said.
* A 19-year-old Plainview, N.Y. man will be summoned to court on two counts of unlawful possession of kegs following an incident on Sunset Avenue Feb. 7 at 2:06 a.m., police said.
* Edward J. Ledgard, 20, of Athol, was arrested Feb. 7 at 1:09 a.m. on College Street on charges of operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol and failure to stay within marked lanes, police said.
* A 16-year-old girl who was accidentally hit with a wooden coat hangar was found unconscious at a Harkness Road home Feb. 7 at 12:11 a.m. She revived while officers were on the scene. Police are continuing to investigate the incident, as witness stories conflict about what happened.
* Police spent more than 15 minutes clearing out over 300 people attending a loud party at a West Street home that police officers said may be an underground UMass fraternity known as Pi Delta Psi Feb. 7 at 12:07 a.m.
* Shawn Wick, 37, of Summer Street, was arrested Feb. 6 at 9:54 p.m. at a North Amherst home on a charge of domestic assault and battery after he pushed a woman and she fell over a bed, police said.
The woman did not require medical attention for her injuries, police said.
* Corey W. Chagnon, 22, of Chelmsford, was arrested Feb. 6 at 2:17 a.m. on Hobart Lane on charges of operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol, resisting arrest, speeding, negligent operation of a motor vehicle and failure to stop for police, police said.
Chagnon was arrested after the vehicle he was driving was speeding on North Pleasant Street and he pulled the vehicle into Hobart Lane, parked the vehicle and turned off its lights, police said.
* Jesse J. Bollinger, 24, of Old Montague Road, was arrested Feb. 6 at 1:17 a.m. on North Pleasant Street near the downtown bars on a charge of disorderly conduct, police said.
Bollinger was a passenger in a vehicle that had been involved in a fender-bender accident and, once stopped, was one of three passengers issued a citation for not wearing a seat belt. Bollinger got out of the car and yelled at police officers and tried to engage several bystanders, police said.
The driver of the vehicle, a 22-year-old Medfield man, will be summoned to court on a charge of leaving the scene of a property damage accident, police said.
* A 15-year-old Amherst boy was arrested Feb. 5 at 5:37 p.m. at his South Amherst home on two counts of domestic assault and battery after he got into an argument with his brother and punched him in the face, and then struck his stepfather several times when the man tried to intervene, police said. Neither the brother or father required medical attention, police said.
* Police are investigating incidents in which a man dressed in black clothing who forced an Amtrak train to come to a sudden stop on Main Street on the morning of Feb. 5 may also have been responsible for the theft of an over-the-counter medication from a downtown business a few hours later.
At 10:51 a.m., police were notified that the train had to come to an emergency stop on Main Street near the Amtrak station to avoid hitting the man, who fled from the area. Police spoke to several people in the vicinity, but were unable to locate the man.
At 3:17 p.m., a clerk at the CVS Pharmacy on North Pleasant Street told police that a customer had just filled a shopping basket with $480 worth of Prilosec, a medication used to control acid reflux, and ran from the back door of the store with the basket of items without paying for them.
Police Lt. Ron Young, head of the detective bureau, said the description of the suspect in the CVS shoplifting, a slender college-age white man wearing a dark coat and dark pants, matches the description of the man who was on the railroad tracks.
The shoplifter ran from the area and the empty basket was found a short time later on Gaylord Street.
"We are investigating that it may be the same person," Young said.
* A 23-year-old Millis man will be summoned to court on a charge of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon after the vehicle he was driving ran into a person in the parking lot outside a West Street business Feb. 5 at 1:27 a.m., police said.
The injured person, one of several employees trying to prevent the man from leaving because of possible intoxication or a pre-existing medical condition, did not require medical attention, police said.
* A 23-year-old Springfield woman will be summoned to court on charges of unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle and operating an unregistered motor vehicle following a traffic stop on Sunset Avenue Feb. 5 at 1:09 a.m., police said.
* A 15-year-old Amherst boy will be summoned to court on a charge of disturbing a school assembly after he made verbal threats against staff at the South Amherst Campus of the high school Feb. 4 at 11:44 a.m., police said.
* A 20-year-old Framingham man will be summoned to court on charges of being a minor in possession of alcohol, carrying a dangerous weapon (brass knuckles) and operating a motor vehicle with a lights violation following a traffic stop on Amity Street Feb. 4 at 1:09 a.m., police said.
* A 42-year-old Springfield woman will be summoned to court on charges of operating a motor vehicle with a suspended registration and operating a motor vehicle with no inspection sticker following a traffic stop on South Pleasant Street Feb. 3 at 10:29 a.m., police said.
* A 21-year-old Amherst woman will be summoned to court on charges of fraudulent use of a credit card over $250 and receiving stolen property under $250 following an incident reported to police through the department's online incident system in January, police said.
The woman obtained the stolen credit card and then used it to purchase groceries and other items at a local store, police said.
* Between Feb. 3 and Feb. 10, police had three vehicles towed for violating the winter parking ban, and issued 58 warnings and 14 tickets to other vehicles parked on Amherst streets in violation of the ban.
Police recovered four wallets, a purse, a cell phone, a set of keys and an ID card. Police checked the well-being of three residents, assisted one resident locked out of a home, checked for speeding vehicles on South East Street, provided one courtesy escort and escorts for four funerals, and delivered mail to members of the Select Board.
In addition, police checked on vehicles parked on West Street, Kellogg Avenue and Farview Way.
Hadley Police
* A 3-year-old boy walking alone on East Street toward Route 9 Sunday at 1 p.m. was reunited with his mother. The woman had been searching for her child without success but had been reluctant to call police.
* Tony A. Hall, 25, and Lanette Scott, 34, both of Main Street, Amherst, were arrested Feb. 7 at 9:50 p.m. on Route 9 on charges of operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license, possession of a class D substance, marijuana, with intent to distribute and operating a motor vehicle with no inspection sticker, police said.
Nine wrapped bags of marijuana and a scale were found in the vehicle, police said.
* Zachary A. Rodgers, 19, of Massachusetts Avenue, UMass, was arrested Feb. 7 at 7:38 p.m. on Route 9 on a charge of being a minor transporting alcohol, police said.
* A vehicle parked outside a Route 9 restaurant was reported broken into Feb. 7 at 7:29 p.m. A GPS navigational unit was stolen from the vehicle.
* Police took a report Feb. 7 at 4:38 p.m. that a 15-year-old boy was inside a Hampshire Mall store and was inappropriately touching women. The boy's father and aunt were located and told police they would speak to the boy about his behavior.
* A credit card inside a wallet stolen from a patron at Planet Fitness at the Mountain Farms Mall Feb. 5 at 9:51 p.m. had been used between 6:30 and 7:30 p.m. at Blockbuster Video and Super Stop & Shop at Campus Shopping Plaza to purchase $200 worth of items. Police are investigating.
* Police and firefighters evacuated Applebee's Neighborhood Bar & Grill on Westgate Center Drive Feb. 5 at 8:48 p.m. after smoke filled the restaurant. Two people suffered minor injuries from smoke inhalation during the incident, which was caused by towels that caught on fire in a dryer. Customers were able to go back inside within an hour.
* A West Street woman reported Feb. 5 at 1:13 p.m. that she received a phone call from a man identifying himself as her son-in-law and asking that she send $4,000 to him while he was visiting Canada.
The woman determined the phone call was an attempt to trick her out of money and, when she confronted the person on the phone call, he hung up, police said.
The possible scam is similar to one reported by an Amherst woman Nov. 19 in which she was asked to send $4,400 to Montreal, Quebec to assist a person involved in an accident. That woman didn't send any money either.
* Hadley police and firefighters contacted the state police bomb squad and an Amherst ambulance to respond to a Route 9 gas station Feb. 4 at 8:30 a.m. for a suspicious plastic bag shaped like a cylinder placed next to the gas pumps. A small rug that had been rolled up was the only item found inside the bag.
* Slippery road conditions contributed to four minor motor vehicle accidents and three vehicles that got stuck Feb. 3 between 9:09 a.m. and 6:56 p.m., police said.
* A Hadley resident reported Feb. 3 at 5:11 p.m. that he lost his red-tail falcon in the Northampton meadows.
* Franklin Pellerin, 28, of Belchertown, was arrested Feb. 2 at 3:24 p.m. on Route 9 on an outstanding warrant. police said.
* Timothy Riley. 51, of Easthampton, was arrested Feb. 2 at 12:18 a.m. on Route 9 on charges of operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol, operating a motor vehicle to endanger and failure to stay within marked lanes, police said.
* Three Amherst youths were arrested Jan. 30 at 9:37 p.m. at Hampshire Mall, police said.
A 16-year-old boy, a 16-year-old girl and a 15-year-old girl were all arrested on charges of disorderly conduct, police said.
The 16-year-old girl was also arrested on charges of assault and battery on a police officer and resisting arrest, while the 15-year-old girl was also arrested on a charge of resisting arrest, police said.
UMass Police
* Anthony Robinson, 20, of Brockton, was arrested Sunday at 6:08 p.m. on Southwest Circle on charges of domestic assault and battery, assault and malicious destruction of property under $250, police said.
A 20-year-old Brockton man will be summoned to court on a charge of assault and battery as a result of the same incident, police said.
* Mauricio Pena, 22, of Houston, Texas, was arrested Sunday at 2:42 a.m. at Washington dormitory on a charge of trespassing, police said.
* A 19-year-old Lincolnshire, Ill. woman and a 19-year-old Malden woman will both be summoned to court on charges of assault and battery and malicious destruction of property over $250 following an incident in Lot 71 off Massachusetts Avenue Sunday at 1:35 a.m., police said.
* Yvonne Rivera, 27, of Springfield, was arrested Sunday at 12:12 a.m. on Massachusetts Avenue on charges of disorderly conduct and resisting arrest, police said.
* Timothy Franco, 18, of Mashpee, was arrested Feb. 7 at 9:44 p.m. in Lot 21 off University Drive on a charge of being a minor in possession of alcohol, police said.
A 21-year-old Falmouth man will be summoned to court on a charge of selling or delivering alcohol to a minor as a result of the same incident, police said.
* Dimitrios Calpouzos, 20, of Burlington, was arrested Feb. 7 at 7:22 p.m. in Lot 33 off University Drive on a charge of being a minor in possession of alcohol, police said.
* The following people will be summoned to court on charges of being minors in possession of alcohol following incidents in Lot 50 off John Adams Road and Lot 32E off Massachusetts Avenue and on Massachusetst Avenue and University Drive between Feb. 5 at 6:11 p.m. and Feb. 7 at 2:19 p.m., police said:

* Nicholas L. Betts, 20, of Natick, was arrested Feb. 5 at 6:52 p.m. on Southwest Circle on a charge of being a minor in possession of alcohol, police said.
* Jailson H. Amarante, 25, of New Bedford, was arrested Feb. 5 at 6:01 p.m. at Cashin dormitory on an outstanding warrant, police said.
* Andrew T. Mayer, 19, of Georgetown, Maine, was arrested Feb. 4 at 7:44 p.m. at McNamara dormitory on charges of possession of a class D substance, marijuana, and possession of a class D substance, marijuana, with intent to distribute, police said.
* A 21-year-old Norwell woman will be summoned to court on charges of unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle and speeding, following a traffic stop on Forestry Way Feb. 4 at 10:15 a.m., police said.
* A 19-year-old Walpole woman will be summoned to court on charges of being a minor in possession of alcohol and being a minor transporting alcohol, following an incident on Commonwealth Avenue Feb. 2 at 8:22 p.m., police said.
A 22-year-old Miami, Fla. man will be summoned to court on a charge of selling or delivering alcohol to a minor as a result of the same incident, police said.
Day-by-Day Amherst Police Calls
FRIDAY, JAN. 30
MOTOR VEHICLE ACCIDENTS
* 2:41 p.m. - One driver was issued a citation for failure to use care in backing following a minor two-car accident with no personal injuries at the corner of Kellogg Avenue and Boltwood Walk, police said.
TRAFFIC
* 1:26 a.m. and 4:48 p.m. - Police stopped vehicles that failed to stop at red lights at the corner of Belchertown Road and South East Street and on College Street and issued the drivers warnings.
* 2:01 a.m. - A vehicle that failed to stay within marked lanes on Main Street was issued a verbal warning.
* 12:41 p.m. - A truck blocking the intersection of Main and South Pleasant streets was not found by police.
* 5:15 p.m. - An unregistered vehicle was stopped on South East Street. The driver was issued a citation and left the vehicle parked until her husband came to get her and her child.
* 7:50 p.m. - Police were unable to locate a vehicle without headlights and with snow and ice covering its windows as it was traveling on North Pleasant Street.
* 9:33 p.m. - A tow truck was called to remove a vehicle stuck in a snow bank on South East Street.
ADDITIONAL ACTIVITY
* 11:32 p.m. - Police assisted firefighters with an alarm activation at Alpha Tau Gamma. About 300 people were removed from the home. About an hour later, police returned to the Sunset Avenue fraternity where loud foot traffic was reported. Residents were advised of the noise complaint.
SATURDAY, JAN. 31
SUSPICIOUS ACTIVITY
* 12:40 a.m. - A person who threw a block of ice at a vehicle on Hobart Lane told police he was just teasing his friend after the friend told him he could not offer a ride since the car was already at capacity.
* 2:28 a.m. - Police warned a man to stop throwing snowballs at passing vehicles on North Pleasant Street near Eastman Lane.
* 6:08 a.m. - A man loitering near the Dumpsters at Puffton Village was not located by police.
* 10:02 p.m. - A person smoking at the front entrance to the Jones Library told police he was just trying to stay out of the wind.
CITIZEN ASSISTANCE
* 12:26 a.m. - A Brandywine Apartments woman contacted police about cell phone calls she is receiving all day and night. She was advised to speak to her provider about the ongoing calls.
* 9:18 a.m. - A man who had been involved in a car accident on Belchertown Road two hours earlier came to the police station complaining of neck pain and a headache. He was brought to Baystate Medical Center in Springfield for treatment.
* 2:13 p.m. - Police were unable to locate a man who got into an argument with a clerk at a University Drive business.
FIGHTS
* 1:35 a.m. - Police dispersed combatants from a Meadow Street location.
NOISE COMPLAINTS
* 12:01 a.m. - Police issued a verbal warning to North Pleasant Street residents holding a loud party with about 40 guests.
* 12:13 a.m. and 10:38 p.m. - Verbal warnings were issued by police to North Pleasant Street and Puffton Village residents playing loud music.
* 12:54 a.m. - A $100 ticket for violating the town's noise bylaw was issued by police to an East Hadley Road resident holding a party with about 35 people.
* 2:01 a.m. and 2:15 a.m. - Alpine Commons and Aspen Chase Apartments residents were issued verbal warnings for playing loud stereos.
* 9:12 p.m. - A loud machine-like sound coming from an apartment at The Boulders was determined to be a bathroom ceiling fan in use while a person was in the shower. Police advised the residents to have management replace the fan.
* 10:23 p.m. - A loud car stereo playing at Puffton Village was quiet when police got there.
* 11:36 p.m. and 11:52 p.m. - Police cleared out 15 people from a Salem Place home and 40 people from an Alpine Commons residence following loud music complaints at both locations.
MOTOR VEHICLE ACCIDENTS
* 12:46 a.m. - A vehicle went off Pelham Road and into a tree after a pedestrian threw a piece of ice at the vehicle, police said. No personal injuries were reported and the vehicle was pulled out by friends of the driver, police said.
* 12:57 a.m. - A vehicle went off the road at the corner of North East and Strong streets into a snowbank, police said. The vehicle had to be towed.
* 2:32 a.m. - A vehicle went off South Pleasant Street into a snowbank, but the vehicle was not damaged, police said.
* 10:55 a.m. - One driver was issued a citation for traveling at an unreasonable speed following a two-car accident with no personal injuries on Old Farm Road, police said.
One vehicle was towed from the scene, police said.
* 2:10 p.m. - A vehicle parked at Townehouse Apartments sustained damage to its rear bumper when it was struck by a hit-and-run vehicle, police said.
* 2:15 p.m. - A rollover accident occurred on East Hadley Road near Whippletree Lane, but the driver left the vehicle and was not immediately located, police said. A short time later, the man and his girlfriend were found walking on the street, and the woman claimed she was the driver.
* 4:19 p.m. - Karen J. Mills, 49, of South East Street, was issued a written warning for failure to use care in stopping after the vehicle she was driving on Northampton Road near Woodside Avenue collided with a vehicle driven by Walker Nambu, 17, of Mount Holyoke Drive, police said.
Damage to both vehicles was minor and no personal injuries were reported, police said.
* 10:52 p.m. - A three-car chain- reaction accident with no personal injuries occurred on North Pleasant Street, police said.
TRAFFIC
* 1:13 a.m. and 6:19 p.m. - Vehicles with defective headlights were stopped on Cottage Street and West Street. The drivers were issued verbal warnings.
* 2:45 a.m. - Police pulled over a vehicle that failed to stay within marked lanes on North Pleasant Street. The driver was issued a verbal warning.
* 8:02 p.m. - A vehicle with an expired inspection sticker was stopped on Main Street. The driver was issued a warning to affix a new sticker or be subject to citations.
* 8:47 p.m. - Police helped a driver get a vehicle back onto North East Street after it went off the road.
SUNDAY, FEB. 1
SUSPICIOUS ACTIVITY
* 3:08 p.m. - A Jeffrey Lane woman reported a man has approached her in a vehicle several times while she was jogging on South Pleasant Street and Mill Lane, and a few times he attempted to talk to her. Police are looking into the incidents.
CITIZEN ASSISTANCE
* 1:32 p.m. - Police assisted a Colonial Village woman to extend a restraining order against her boyfriend.
DISTURBANCES
* 12:23 a.m. - A man bleeding from his face was located on Fearing Street. Police determined that the man was involved with other people in throwing cans and bottles at the home, breaking at least one window. The man was given gauze to treat his face, while the property owner asked that he be removed from the area.
* 2:32 a.m. - People yelling at each other in front of a Sunset Avenue home were gone when police got there.
* 4:39 a.m. - A mother and daughter who got into a verbal altercation at a South Pleasant Street home were separated for the night.
BREAK-INS
* 5:25 p.m. - Someone entered an unlocked vehicle parked near the CVS Pharmacy on North Pleasant Street and stole a backpack containing school supplies and an MP3 player. Most of the items were found a short time later near the fence line of St. Brigid's Church, but the MP3 player was still missing.
* 9:21 p.m. - A door was broken in an attempted break-in at a McClellan Street home, but no entry was made.
FIGHTS
* 12:28 a.m. - Two people fighting on the ground outside a downtown business told police they were just friends goofing off.
NOISE COMPLAINTS
* 1:55 a.m. - Police issued a verbal warning to Kellogg Avenue residents holding a loud party and had the residents clear out about 50 party-goers.
* 2:28 a.m. - A verbal warning was issued by police to Alpine Commons residents playing loud music.
* 4:31 a.m. - The Boulders residents were issued a warning to stop walking around on the floor and to go to bed after they were found to be disturbing their neighbors.
* 5:57 p.m. - Loud music playing at Mill Hollow Apartments was quiet when police got there.
MOTOR VEHICLE ACCIDENTS
* 12:47 a.m. - Korey Davis, 19, of Lynchburg, Va., was issued citations for failure to use care in starting and operating an unregistered vehicle after the vehicle he was driving from Eastman Lane onto East Pleasant Street collided with a vehicle driven by Julien S. Collins, 22, of East Harwich, police said.
Damage to both vehicles was minor and no personal injuries were reported, police said.
* 3:23 a.m. - Peter Rizzo, 21, of West Springfield, suffered a head injury after the vehicle he was driving on Henry Street went over a guardrail, down an embankment and rolled on its side, police said.
Rizzo was transported by Amherst Fire Department ambulance to Cooley Dickinson Hospital in Northampton for treatment, police said. The vehicle, which landed near the railroad tracks, had to be winched out.
* 10:25 a.m. - A minor two-car accident with no personal injuries took place at the corner of Shutesbury Road and North East Street after one driver couldn't see around a large snowbank, police said.
* 11:30 a.m. - Police said they called a towing company after a vehicle went off Bay Road near Hulst Road.
TRAFFIC
* 2:19 a.m. - Vehicles blocking lanes of traffic on Grantwood Drive were moved by their owners after police issued tickets.
* 11:10 p.m. - A vehicle with a headlight out was stopped on South Pleasant Street. The driver was issued a verbal warning.
MONDAY, FEB. 2
DISTURBANCES
* 4:30 p.m. - Police kept the peace between a mother and son arguing at Southpoint Apartments.
* 8:11 p.m. - A man trying to start fights with people at Rafter's Sports Bar & Restaurant was removed by police and given a courtesy escort to the town center.
LARCENY
* 12:33 p.m. - A Carriage Lane woman reported that she sent $259.59 to a Baltimore, Md. resident to buy an iPod from craigslist and never received the item. Police are investigating.
NOISE COMPLAINTS
* 12:10 a.m. - A resident at The Boulders heard a loud machine sound and reported it to police. All was quiet when police got there.
ANIMAL COMPLAINTS
* 11 a.m. - Police went to an Elf Hill Road home to check on the well- being of a dog.
* 1:38 p.m. - Police and the Department of Public Works assisted in closing down a lane of the Route 116 bypass so a moose could safely cross it.
* 6:58 p.m. - Two horses that got loose on Belchertown Road were back in their stalls when police got there.

* 3:31 p.m. - A minor two-car accident with no personal injuries took place at the intersection of Mattoon and Triangle streets, police said.
TRAFFIC
* 1:47 a.m. - A vehicle with two different license plates was stopped on Belchertown Road. The driver said the vehicle was properly registered and that he had just forgotten to remove one of the plates.
* 3:52 a.m. - Police stopped a vehicle on Belchertown Road and issued the driver a warning for impeded operation.
* 4:17 a.m. - A woman called police to ask for assistance in removing a vehicle from a snowbank after she parked it on Belchertown Road to walk her dogs.
* 10:48 a.m. - A woman came to the police station to report she was nervous after she was closely followed by another vehicle from Orange into Amherst. She provided police a description of the vehicle.
TUESDAY, FEB. 3
CITIZEN ASSISTANCE
* 9:58 p.m. - Police took a report that an 18-year-old woman was missing from Mill Valley Estates. Amherst College and UMass police were notified because the woman is often at the libraries on both campuses. The following day police notified Emergency Services that the woman has been off her medication.
DISTURBANCES
* 9:56 a.m. - A woman who got upset at her dental hygienist and caused a scene at the downtown office had left the building before police got there. Once located, she was advised not to return to the business.
* 9:06 p.m. - Police kept the peace at Echo Village Apartments after a resident told police a man threatened to beat up him and his girlfriend after their children got into a dispute in Hadley the previous day. At 1:01 p.m. the following day, the neighbors again got into an argument, and police responded to calm things down.
LARCENY
* 3:32 p.m. - Three teenagers allegedly attempted to take merchandise from Newbury Comics, but it was unclear if they were successful before leaving the Main Street store.
NOISE COMPLAINTS
* 8:05 p.m. - Loud noise and yelling at a Village Park home had ended before police got there.
ANIMAL COMPLAINTS
* 2:13 p.m. - A dog issue was reported at Delta Upsilon fraternity.
MOTOR VEHICLE ACCIDENTS
* 10:59 a.m. - Lancelot Wilson was issued a citation for failure to keep to the right after vehicle he was driving on Station Road collided with a vehicle driven by Randy Letourneau, police said.
Both vehicles sustained damage to their mirrors, police said.
* 3:39 p.m. - A vehicle that slid off Belchertown Road into a guardrail and also hit a snowbank was gone when police got there, police said.
* 3:57 p.m. - Sally A. Sorel, 65, of Belchertown, was issued citations for failure to use care in passing and failure to stay within marked lanes after the vehicle she was driving on Belchertown Road collided with a vehicle driven by Liam X. Piazza, 20, of Belchertown, police said. Damage to both vehicles was minor and no personal injuries were reported.
* 4:56 p.m. - A vehicle that went off West Street into a snowbank was removed by a passerby with a pickup truck and chains, police said.
* 5:39 p.m. - A vehicle went off West Street near the entrance to Hampshire College, police said. A towing company was contacted to remove it.
* 5:47 p.m. - A vehicle went off West Street and a towing company was contacted to remove it, police said.
* 5:48 p.m. - A minor two-car accident with no personal injuries occurred on West Street, police said.
* 5:55 p.m. - Kelly E. Sheridan, 20, of Granby, was issued a written warning for failure to use care in stopping after the vehicle she was driving slid and struck the rear of a vehicle driven by Meredith R. Cox, 66, of Belchertown, which in turn was pushed into the side of a vehicle driven by Lianne M. Fleury-Casey, 48, of Country Corners Road, police said.
Damage to all three vehicles was minor and no personal injuries were reported, police said.
* 8:35 p.m. - A vehicle slid into a snowbank at the entrance to Fort River School, police said.
TRAFFIC
* 9:36 a.m. - A piece of plywood with nails sticking out of it was found in the middle of College Street. Officers removed the board.
WEDNESDAY, FEB. 4
CITIZEN ASSISTANCE
* 12:13 p.m. - Police examined a vehicle on behalf of an Amherst woman who had to remove tint from its windows after being cited for the violation in New York state.
* 1:28 p.m. - A resident at The Boulders reported receiving multiple annoying phone calls from a man claiming to be from a credit card company. The man yelled at the resident during every phone call before hanging up on her.
* 1:58 p.m. - An Ann Whalen Apartments woman called police to report she might be choking on the peanut butter and crackers she was eating. She called back moments later to tell police she was OK.
* 10:43 p.m. - Police helped Hulst Road residents open a bathroom door after it got stuck with a person inside.
MOTOR VEHICLE ACCIDENTS
* 7:49 a.m. - A minor two-car accident with no personal injuries occurred on Triangle Street, police said.
* 10:52 a.m. - Police said they were notified about an accident on Hunter Hill Circle a few days earlier in which a mailbox was struck.
* 10:12 p.m. - A vehicle parked on McClellan Street sustained damage to its sideview mirror after a passing vehicle struck it, police said.

* 1:33 a.m. - A vehicle with a headlight violation was stopped on East Pleasant Street and the driver was issued a verbal warning.
* 2:06 a.m. - Police called for a tow of a vehicle blocking a travel lane on Sunset Court.
* 4:18 p.m. and 4:24 p.m. - Police issued tickets to vehicles parked in a tow zone on Sunset Avenue.

* 4:26 a.m. - Amherst police assisted Hadley police in removing a vehicle blocking the intersection of Routes 9 and 116.
THURSDAY, FEB. 5
CITIZEN ASSISTANCE
* 2:36 a.m. - Police helped a man walking on Phillips Street locate his friend's home after the intoxicated friend fell onto the road and refused to get up.
* 8:19 p.m. - A downtown shopkeeper reported her landlord may have entered her business sometime overnight. Nothing was missing from the business, which the woman said she is planning to relocate to a less expensive storefront.
* 9:40 p.m. - A woman provided police information regarding the alleged illegal sale of narcotics from an Amherst location. Police are investigating.
DISTURBANCES
* 8:52 p.m. - A man causing problems at Leading Edge gym on University Drive by bothering patrons and harassing female employees was advised to stay away from the location.
NOISE COMPLAINTS
* 10:50 p.m. - Police issued a verbal warning to The Griggs residents talking loudly and watching a loud television.
ANIMAL COMPLAINTS
* 11:43 a.m. - A stray dog on South Pleasant Street was returned to a Northampton Road resident.
* 1:09 p.m. - A hawk was reported struck by a vehicle on East Hadley Road. The incident occurred in Hadley and the matter was referred to that town's police department.
* 7:55 p.m. - A deer running in and out of traffic on Main Street near Salem Place was not located by police.
MOTOR VEHICLE ACCIDENTS
* 3:30 p.m. - One driver was issued a citation for failure to use care in backing following a minor two-car accident with no personal injuries on Kellogg Avenue, police said.
TRAFFIC
* 1:05 a.m. - A vehicle with a license plate violation was stopped on University Drive and the operator was issued a warning.
* 8:38 a.m. - Police stopped a vehicle with an expired registration on College Street. The driver, who had her toddler with her, was advised to have the vehicle registered before she could drive it home. She was given a courtesy escort.
* 9:20 a.m. - Police assisted a tractor-trailer truck get out of a snowbank near the CVS Pharmacy parking lot on North Prospect Street.
* 10:08 a.m. - The Department of Public Works was assisted in clearing a sewer line on Belchertown Road near Stanley Street.
FRIDAY, FEB. 6
SUSPICIOUS ACTIVITY
* 1:28 a.m. - Outside the downtown bars, police calmed an intoxicated woman who was upset that she couldn't ride inside an ambulance with a friend to the hospital. The woman agreed to ride in a car with another friend.
* 3:11 a.m. - A woman sitting in a vehicle at Puffton Village requested police escort her to her home.
* 10:27 p.m. - A Clark House woman reported someone placed a newspaper beneath her door, even though no one was supposed to come near her residence.
CITIZEN ASSISTANCE
* 2:34 p.m. - Police checked the IDs of patrons at a downtown package store.
* 7:11 p.m. - A woman reported that she was nearly struck by a van in the high school parking lot and, when she pushed against the van as it approached her, the driver and passenger yelled at her and made an obscene gesture toward her. Police later located the driver who admitted that she nearly hit the other woman and that her daughter made an inappropriate gesture.
MOTOR VEHICLE ACCIDENTS
* 12:28 p.m. - Vehicles driven by Stephanie Jernigan, no age available, of Belchertown, and Rachel Franklin, no age available, of South Hadley, collided at the intersection of College and South East streets, police said.
Jernigan complained of back pain and was transported by Amherst Fire Department ambulance to Cooley Dickinson Hospital in Northampton, where she was treated and released, according to a hospital spokeswoman.
Damage to both vehicles was minor, according to police.
* 1:05 p.m. - The driver of a vehicle that struck a parked vehicle at the CVS Pharmacy parking lot on North Pleasant Street was located in North Amherst, police said.
* 5:56 p.m. - A dog hit by a vehicle on Triangle Street was not located by police, police said.
* 6:54 p.m. - Richard Ward, 23, of North Reading, was issued a citation for failure to stop at a stop sign after the vehicle he was driving from Eastman Lane onto East Pleasant Street collided with vehicles driven by Mark A. Stevens, 58, of Lincoln Avenue, Sami Zreik, 29, of Puffton Village, and Allison M. Hill, 32, of Colonial Court, police said.
Ward's vehicle was towed, but no personal injuries were reported, police said.
* 10:01 p.m. and 11:10 p.m. - Minor two-car accidents with no personal injuries took place on Main Street and at the corner of South Pleasant and College streets, police said.

* 12:52 a.m. - Police issued a citation to the driver of a vehicle that failed to stay within marked lanes on North Pleasant Street.
* 11:25 a.m. - An erratic vehicle on Belchertown Road was not located by police.
* 1:43 p.m. - A driver was issued warnings for throwing a lit cigarette out the window and littering from a vehicle, after a traffic stop on East Pleasant Street.
* 10:34 p.m. - Several college-age people walking in the middle of East Pleasant Street were not located by police.
ADDITIONAL ACTIVITY
* 11:09 p.m. - Amherst police assisted Environmental police in searching for snowmobilers engaging in illegal activity in the area of Russellville Road.
SATURDAY, FEB. 7
SUSPICIOUS ACTIVITY
* 12:48 a.m. - A person urinating against a tree on Sunset Avenue was advised to find a bathroom to use.
* 1:55 a.m. - Police issued a warning to a person under 21 walking with an open container of alcohol on Phillips Street.
* 11:09 p.m. - Two men walking on Amity Street holding construction signs were gone when police got there.
CITIZEN ASSISTANCE
* 5:52 p.m. - A North Pleasant Street woman reported receiving annoying phone calls from a man making comments about being attracted to her. The woman received similar calls in November, prior to moving to Amherst.
DISTURBANCES
* 12:09 a.m. - Police kept the peace between a husband and wife arguing at an East Pleasant Street home.
VANDALISM
* 2:59 a.m. - Two men punching mailboxes were located on Pelham Road. The men agreed to make restitution for the damage.
NOISE COMPLAINTS
* 1:14 a.m. - Police issued a verbal warning to The Boulders residents playing a loud video game.
* 2:40 a.m. - A verbal warning was issued by police to Shumway Street residents holding a loud party.
* 10:14 p.m. - Police responded to The Boulders, where several people were yelling. All was quiet when police got there.
* 11:13 p.m. - Two people pounding on the ceiling of a residence at The Boulders were quiet when police got there.
* 11:45 p.m. - Lincoln Avenue residents talking loudly and playing loud music were issued a verbal warning by police.
MOTOR VEHICLE ACCIDENTS
* 5:31 a.m. - A vehicle that got stuck in a snowbank at the corner of South Pleasant Street and Memorial Drive was towed, police said.
* 12:30 a.m. - A vehicle went off Bay Road near Harris Mountain Road into a snowbank, and had to be removed, police said.
The tire treads on the vehicle were worn, which contributed to the accident, police said.
The driver was given a courtesy escort to her home.
* 10:39 p.m. - A vehicle went off Sunderland Road into a snowbank, but was able to get out without assistance from a tow truck, police said.

* 2:08 a.m. - Police issued a written warning to the driver of a vehicle stopped on North Pleasant Street that had a canceled registration. The vehicle was towed.
* 3:02 a.m. - A vehicle with a defective headlight was stopped on Belchertown Road. The driver was issued a verbal warning.
* 3:04 a.m. - Police stopped a vehicle with a lights violation on East Pleasant Street and issued the driver a verbal warning.
* 7:09 a.m. - A tractor-trailer truck stuck on a snowbank on Belchertown Road was able to go on its way.
* 10:58 a.m. - A vehicle with no inspection sticker was stopped on College Street. The driver was advised to get the car inspected immediately.
* 11 a.m. - Police helped a person move a vehicle from an Amity Street parking lot that had iced over.
* 2:03 p.m. - Police monitored traffic as 100 protesters marched along North Pleasant Street to Amherst College.
* 5:52 p.m. - Police monitored traffic on Montague Road while the fireworks display was taking place at Winterfest at Cherry Hill Golf Course.
* 7:22 p.m. - The owner of a vehicle jutting into the travel lane of South East Street was advised to move it.
* 7:56 p.m. - An unregistered vehicle was stopped on East Pleasant Street. The driver was issued a citation.
* 9:54 p.m. - Police stopped a vehicle that failed to stay within marked lanes on Sunderland Road and issued the driver a verbal warning.

* 5:24 p.m. - A heavily intoxicated man was found outside a Montague Road home. He was brought to Cooley Dickinson Hospital for treatment.

* 2:28 p.m. - Three people ice fishing on Puffer's Pond checked out OK, as the ice appeared to be safe.
* 7:25 p.m. - Police helped an employee of a downtown mental health facility get a client back to the home. The client was located on Chestnut Street.
* 9:21 p.m. - An East Hadley Road resident reported that a pamphlet from a painting contractor was placed in her storm door.

* 12:36 a.m. - Two customers causing problems at a downtown bar were gone when police got there.
* 1:39 a.m. - A man reported he was pushed to the ground outside a North Pleasant Street fraternity after paying $5 to get inside. He was referred to court to file a complaint.
NOISE COMPLAINTS
* 1:42 a.m. - Police issued a verbal warning to Main Street residents talking loudly.
* 1:45 a.m. - A verbal warning was issued by police to North Pleasant Street residents playing loud music and talking loudly. The loud argument appeared to stem from someone upset about a motorcycle being touched by another person.
ANIMAL COMPLAINTS
* 8:46 p.m. - A loud dog barking at a Village Park home ended before police got there. The tenant complaining about the noise was advised to speak to management about the problem.
TRAFFIC
* 12:55 a.m. - A vehicle with an expired inspection sticker was stopped on Hobart Lane. The driver was issued a verbal warning.
* 12:58 a.m. - Five vehicles parked in a tow zone on Hobart Lane were issued tickets.
* 6:54 p.m. - The Department of Public Works was notified about a pothole on Bay Road that contributed to a vehicle's tire blowing out.
MONDAY, FEB. 9
SUSPICIOUS ACTIVITY
* 1:58 p.m. - A downtown resident reported that in January a man twice assaulted her roommates, trying to choke one of the women and hitting the other in the face. Police advised the woman how she could help her friends get restraining orders against the unidentified man,
CITIZEN ASSISTANCE
* 2:57 p.m. - An 80-year-old man missing from The Arbors was located a short time later at the Newmarket Center shopping complex.
* 10:53 p.m. - A Hulst Road resident reported receiving annoying phone calls. Police are trying to contact the person suspected of making the calls.
VANDALISM
* 5:36 p.m. - A snowmobile ripping up a South East Street yard was not located by police. Environmental police were notified about the problem.
BREAK-INS
* 10:54 a.m. - A Puffton Village resident reported an unlocked vehicle was entered, but nothing appeared to be missing.
NOISE COMPLAINTS
* 12:59 a.m. - Loud music reported at Puffton Village was quiet when police got there.
* 11:25 p.m. - Police issued a verbal warning to Puffton Village residents watching a loud television.
ANIMAL COMPLAINTS
* 5:29 p.m. - Police removed a dead dog from a Pine Street location.
MOTOR VEHICLE ACCIDENTS
* 1:09 p.m. - Danielle Shields, 22, of Southampton, N.Y., was issued a citation for failure to grant right of way after the vehicle she was driving at the corner of Main and North Whitney streets collided with a vehicle driven by Jordan Grinstein, 22, of Ashby, police said. Grinstein's vehicle was towed, but no personal injuries were reported, police said.
* 5 p.m. - A parked vehicle on North Pleasant Street sustained minor damage when it was struck by a second vehicle, police said.
* 6:13 p.m. - A minor two-car accident with no personal injureis occurred on East Pleasant Street, police said.

* 2:09 a.m. - A vehicle parked in a tow zone on Sunset Avenue was issued a ticket.
* 9:46 a.m., 9:49 a.m. and 9:54 a.m. - Police issued $10 tickets to three Main Street locations where sidewalks were still covered in snow and ice.
* 5:57 p.m. and 7:53 p.m. - Police stopped vehicles with expired inspection stickers on Belchertown Road and North Pleasant Street and issued the drivers warnings.
* 8:55 p.m. - A vehicle with a defective taillight was stopped on College Street. The driver was issued a verbal warning.

* 7:51 p.m. - Amherst police assisted UMass police with a traffic issue on Sunset Avenue.
