Memorial Day activities in area towns

AMHERST - Parade Monday beginning at 9:30 a.m. on Spring Street and proceeding along North Pleasant Street to War Memorial on Triangle Street for ceremonies at Veterans War Memorial Pool at 10 a.m.

Speaker: Lt. Col. David Vacchy, UMass R.O.T.C. Coffee and donuts follow at the VFW.

Barbecue at American Legion, corner South Prospect Street and Amity Street.

HADLEY - Commemorations Sunday: Plainville Cemetery (11:15), Olde Hadley Cemetery (11:30), Hockanum Cemetery (11:50); Russellville Cemetery (12:15), Holy Rosary Cemetery (12:30), North Hadley Cemetery (1:10). 2 p.m., return to American Legion for flag raising and parade down Rte. 9 to General Hooker Monument on West St.

Return to Legion for refreshments.

PELHAM - Memorial Day observance honoring people removed from their original resting places for the construction of Quabbin Reservoir Sunday, 11 a.m. at Quabbin Park Cemetery.

Members of the Pelham Historical Society meet at the Museum at 9:30 a.m. to march behind the Society's banner at this service.
