A Better Chance has placed more than 11,000 middle and junior high school students in public and private college preparatory schools throughout the country since the program began in 1964.
More than 99 percent of ABC graduating seniors immediately enroll in college.
One-third of ABC scholars come from families who receive welfare or live at or below the federal poverty line.
Sixty-five percent of ABC scholars come from single-parent families.
The 236 member schools of the ABC program are distributed among 27 states.
Out of 2,920 ABC applicants for the 2002-2003 school year, only 420 were accepted.
