Pamelah Stevens & Bobby Brown

Pamelah A. Stevens and Bobby T. Brown of Whately were married Aug. 12 at the Florence home of Justice of the Peace Patricia Shaughnessy, who officiated at the 11 a.m. ceremony.

The bride, 43, is the daughter of Janice Stevens of Amherst and the late Richard Stevens. A therapist at ServiceNet in Northampton, she graduated from Amherst Regional High School in 1980 and the University of Massachusetts at Amherst in 1990. She received a master's degree in psychology from Antioch New England Graduate School in Keene, N.H., in 1994.

The bridegroom, also 43, is the son of the late Pearl Mae Thomas and Robert Serell, both formerly of Springfield. A manager at O'Connell's in Hadley, he graduated from the Roger L. Putnam Vocational Technical High School in Springfield in 1982.

Deana Apua'latl & Lee Underwood

Deana May Apua'latl and Lee A. Underwood of Southampton were married Aug. 12 at FireBrook Farm & Stables in Holyoke. Julie Sanborn, a friend of the couple, received permission from the commonwealth to officiate at the 2 p.m. ceremony,

Apua'latl is the daughter of Chris and Alexander Kostuk of Durham, Conn. Underwood is the daughter of Frances and Robert Underwood of Hooksett, N.H.

Underwood was attended by Michelle Vaillancourt, her sister. Apua'latl was attended by Sal Johnson.

David Rideout, Apua'latl's son, blessed the wedding with a Native American prayer.

Following a reception at FireBrook Farm & Stables, the couple honeymooned in Block Island, R.I.

Apua'latl, 36, who is keeping her name, is a residential supervisor at Hawthorn Services in Chicopee. She graduated from Mattatuck Community Technical College in Waterbury, Conn., in 1994.

Underwood, 30, who will be known as Lee Apua'latl, is a certified veterinary technician at Riverbend Animal Hospital in Hadley. She graduated from Stonehill College in North Easton in 1994.

Anna De Cheke & Ray Qualls

Anna Sarah De Cheke and Ray Brandon Qualls of Baltimore, Md., were married July 1 at Jordan's Chapel in Pipestem, W.Va. The Rev. Carl Sellards officiated at the 3 p.m. ceremony.

The bride is the daughter of Annamaria and Michael De Cheke of Baltimore, Md., formerly of Amherst. The bridegroom is the son of Joan and Rayburn Qualls of Rockville, Md.

Caroline Qualls, the bridegroom's sister, was the maid of honor. Flower girls were MacKenzie Coulter and Morgan Coulter.

Balint De Cheke, the bride's brother, was the best man. Liam Verdesi was the ring bearer.

Following a reception at Pipestem (W.Va.) State Park, the couple honeymooned in Hungary and Italy.

The bride, 35, is director of graduate services at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Md. She graduated from Amherst Regional High School in 1989 and the University of Massachusetts at Amherst in 1993. She received a master's degree in science education from Columbia University in New York City in 2001.

The bridegroom, 38, is contracts manager at Social and Health Services in Rockville, Md. He graduated from George Washington University in Washington, D.C., in 1992.

Erin Gillis & Steven Lawler

Erin Barry Gillis and Steven Gabriel Lawler of Belchertown were married June 25 at the Salem Cross Inn in West Brookfield. Justice of the Peace Paula Roberts officiated at the 1 p.m. ceremony.

The bride is the daughter of Suzann Bouchard of South Hadley and Neil Gillis of Westfield. The bridegroom is the son of Celeste and Paul Lawler of Amherst.

Melanie Peterson, the bride's sister, was the matron of honor. Bridesmaids were Krysty Alexander, Deirdre Gillis and Suzanna Sullivan, the bride's sisters; Denise Sawicki, the bridegroom's sister; and Janet Lawler, the bridegroom's sister-in-law. Erin Sawicki, the bridegroom's niece, was the junior bridesmaid.

Greg Lawler, the bridegroom's brother, was the best man. Groomsmen were Scott Sawicki, the bridegroom's brother-in-law; Sean Sawicki and Jason Lawler, the bridegroom's nephews; and Chris Bascomb. Ring bearers were Thomas Alexander and Samuel Alexander, the bride's nephews.

Following a reception at the Salem Cross Inn, the couple honeymooned in Hawaii.

The bride, 31, is a seventh-grade science teacher in the Holyoke public schools. She graduated from Northampton High School in 1992 and the University of Massachusetts at Amherst in 2001. She is pursuing a master's degree in education at UMass.

The bridegroom, also 31, is an elevator constructor with the Schindler Elevator Co. in Springfield. He graduated from Amherst Regional High School in 1992 and UMass in 2000.

Gloria McCahon & Paul Whiting

Gloria Jane McCahon and Paul Spencer Whiting were married June 24 at the Toah Nipi Retreat Center in Rindge, N.H. The Rev. Greg Mozel of the First Baptist Church of Amherst officiated at the 10:30 a.m. ceremony.

The bride is the daughter of Cynthia and David McCahon of Deerfield. The bridegroom is the son of Carey Whiting of Mission Viejo, Calif., and Jeffrey Whiting of Irvine, Calif.

Joy McCahon, the bride's sister, was the maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Margaret McCahon, the bride's sister; Jane Maxson, Erica Rangel, Lei Liew and Jackie Kirby.

Dave Powers was the best man. Groomsmen were Mark Sayson, Dave Wright, Matt Mascioli, Damian McCusker and Calvin Lefebvre.

Following a reception at the Toah Nipi Retreat Center, the couple honeymooned in Hawaii.

The bride, 22, plans to work in the Boston area. She graduated from Amherst Regional High School in 2002 and Rice University in Houston, Texas, this spring.

The bridegroom, 24, graduated from Amherst College in 2004 and is pursuing a medical degree at Harvard Medical School in Boston.

The couple will live in Boston.

Kara Waskiewicz & Christopher Kostek

Kara Ann Waskiewicz and Christopher George Kostek of Hadley were married May 27 at Most Holy Redeemer Church in Hadley. The Rev. William P. Murphy officiated at the 2 p.m. ceremony.

The bride is the daughter of Kristine and Ronald Waskiewicz of Hadley. The bridegroom is the son of Kathy Piotrowski of Turners Falls and Stanley Kostek of Hadley.

Maids of honor were Kelli Waskiewicz, the bride[']s sister; and Lindsay Pipczynski. Bridesmaids were Alison Wheeler, Tara Tudryn, Laura Karparis and Meghanne Martel. Tierney McKenna was the junior bridesmaid.

Best men were Greg Harris and Shawn Wrisley. Groomsmen were Jason Kostek, the bridegroom[']s brother; R.J. Waskiewicz, the bride[']s brother; Chris Orsini and David O[']Connor. Angelo Folino was the ring bearer.

Following a reception at Wyckoff Country Club in Holyoke, the couple honeymooned in the Dominican Republic.

The bride, 23, is a site manager at ServiceNet in Greenfield. She graduated from Hopkins Academy in Hadley in 2001.

The bridegroom, 29, is the distribution center manager at the Daily Hampshire Gazette in Northampton. He graduated from Hopkins Academy in 1994 and the University of Massachusetts at Amherst in 2000.
