Amherst Police
* Three vehicles parked at North Amherst Motors on Montague Road had tires punctured in a vandalism incident reported to police Monday at 9:17 a.m. Police said the incident is similar to one reported at 8:17 a.m. by management at Marshall Steinbecks on South Prospect Street, where three vehicles had their tires slashed. Both incidents are under investigation.
* Amherst College police notified Amherst police about a naked Smith College student who was found walking back to Northampton along Northampton Road Sunday at 4:15 a.m. The woman told police she didn't know how she lost all her clothing, that she had been left behind by her friends and that she was only cold and had not been assaulted. She was brought to Cooley Dickinson Hospital in Northampton for an evaluation.
* Katrina A. DeSimone, 19, of Rancho Palos Verde, Calif., was arrested April 19 at 11:21 p.m. on Main Street on charges of being a minor in possession of alcohol and violating the town's open container bylaw, police said.
* John L. Kydd, 34, of Southpoint Apartments, was arrested April 19 at 10:34 p.m. on East Hadley Road on charges of operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license and failure to stay within marked lanes, police said.
* Extravaganja brought an estimated 3,000 people to the Amherst Town Common April 19, but police made only three arrests during the eight-hour event featuring live music, vendors and speakers promoting legalization of marijuana.
Ross Jackson, 21, of John Quincy Adams dormitory, UMass, and James M. Perry, 20, of Anchorage, Alaska, were both arrested between noon and 8 p.m. on charges of possession of a class D substance, marijuana, police said.
Scott J. Sousa, 21, of College Street, was arrested at 3:13 p.m. on the South Pleasant Street side of the common on a charge of violating the town's open container bylaw, police said.
According to a press release from the police department, the annual rally, sponsored by the Cannabis Reform Coalition, caused no major disturbances. Police officers did deal with both traffic congestion and parking issues caused by the number of people coming to downtown for the event. At least four vehicles were issued tickets for being in tow zones or double parked.
* Jake T. Hogan, 22, of North Attleborough, was arrested April 19 at 3:03 a.m. on South Pleasant Street on charges of operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol, operating a motor vehicle with a miscellaneous equipment violation and possession of an open container of alcohol in a motor vehicle, police said.
* An 18-year-old Shrewsbury man, a 19-year-old Anchorage, Alaska woman, a 20-year-old Bedford woman and a 20-year-old Turners Falls man will all be summoned to court on charges of being minors in possession of alcohol and violating the town's open container bylaw, following police responses to Phillips Street and North Pleasant Street April 19 at 12:55 a.m., 1:18 a.m. and 2:13 a.m., police said.
* Akanibo Da-Wariboko, 22, of Brookline, was arrested April 19 at 1:47 a.m. on South Pleasant Street on charges of operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license and operating a motor vehicle with a miscellaneous equipment violation, police said.
* The following five women were arrested April 19 at 12:04 a.m. on North Pleasant Street on charges of violating the town's noise bylaw after police responded to a loud party with at least 80 people who were yelling and screaming, police said:
Heather Dimaio, 21, Stephanie M. Newell, 22, Christine Rozolis, 21, Lauren Siegel, 22, and Jenna Spataro, 22, all of North Pleasant Street.
* Steven Soeng, 18, of Riverglade Drive, was arrested April 18 at 11:44 p.m. at the corner of Spring and South Pleasant streets on an outstanding warrant, police said.
* Thomas J. Krasin, 32, of Holyoke, was arrested April 18 at 10:14 p.m. on Spring Street on an outstanding warrant, police said.
* A 20-year-old Marston Mills man and a 20-year-old North Eastham woman will both be summoned to court on charges of being minors in possession of alcohol, following a Cops in Shops detail at a North Amherst package store April 18 at 4:56 p.m., police said.
A 21-year-old West Dennis woman will be summoned to court on a charge of procuring alcohol for minors as a result of the same incident, police said.
* Police are bringing charges against a 23-year-old Amherst man after he was found early on the morning of April 18 removing two of the three large Greek letters attached to the Iota Gamma Upsilon sorority at the corner of North Pleasant and Phillips streets.
The man, who lives at Alpha Epsilon Pi on Sunset Avenue, will be summoned to court on charges of larceny under $250 and malicious destruction of property under $250 following the incident, which was reported at 3:02 a.m. by a resident of the sorority, police said.
Sgt. Ron Young, head of the police detective bureau, said a member of the sorority was awakened by loud voices on the front lawn and banging on the side of the building. When she looked out the window, she noticed a ladder propped against the building and several men running from the property, including one man who had gotten off the ladder and was holding two of the wooden letters, each of which is two-to-three feet tall.
The men jumped into a vehicle and fled the area, Young said, but the sorority sisters were able to get a license plate and description of the vehicle, which was tracked to the Alpha Epsilon Pi fraternity where, a short time later, officers observed two men carrying the sorority's blue-and green letters into the building.
Only one man is currently facing charges, but the incident remains under investigation.
* Patrick C. Bean, 18, of Eveningstar Drive, was arrested April 18 at 2:10 a.m. on Main Street on charges of operating a motor vehicle with a lights violation, possession of a class D substance, marijuana, and being a minor in possession of alcohol, after his vehicle was stopped for having a headlight out, police said.
* An 18-year-old Chelmsford woman will be summoned to court on charges of being a minor in possession of alcohol, speeding and operating a motor vehicle with a miscellaneous equipment violation, following a traffic stop on North Pleasant Street near Old Town Road April 18 at 1:22 a.m., police said.
An 18-year-old Lowell woman who was a passenger in the vehicle will be summoned to court on a charge of being a minor in possession of alcohol, police said.
* Patrick M. Caffrey, 44, of Portsmouth, Va., was arrested April 17 at 10:35 p.m. at the corner of Sunderland Road and the Route 116 bypass on charges of operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol, third offense, negligent operation of a motor vehicle, possession of an open container of alcohol in a motor vehicle and failure to stay within marked lanes, after the vehicle he was driving went off the road, police said.
* A 21-year-old Holyoke man will be summoned to court on charges of unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle and speeding, following a traffic stop on West Street April 17 at 6:22 p.m., police said.
* Police took a report April 16 at 4:19 p.m. that a water bottle was thrown at and struck a person during an argument on a group home's transportation van traveling on Arlington Road. The person hit with the bottle was not injured. The incident is under investigation.
* An Amherst woman told police her daughter was attacked by a pit bull terrier in the area of Mill Valley Estates April 15 at 5:40 p.m. Police examined the daughter, who sustained scratches from being knocked to the ground. The animal welfare officer is investigating the incident.
* A 55-year-old Granby man will be summoned to court on a charge of assault with a dangerous weapon, after he threw a metal breaker bar at another worker at a construction site on Market Hill Road April 15 at 9:53 a.m., police said.
* Between April 15 and April 22, police recovered a license plate, two cell phones, a purse, four wallets, a bicycle, a "slow" traffic sign, four gift cards and a backpack, and took reports of a lost wallet and a lost cell phone. Police performed well-being checks on five residents, checked for speeding vehicles on Leverett Road, Lincoln Avenue, Wildflower Drive, North East Street and Fearing Street, provided five courtesy escorts and delivered mail to members of the Select Board.
Police responded to false alarms at three homes, three businesses and Town Hall and checked on vehicles parked on Stanley Street, North Pleasant Street, University Drive, Main Street, Hitching Post Road and Webster Court and at Puffton Village, Wildwood School, Groff Park, the middle school, the Notch Visitors Center, Puffer's Pond and Brandywine Apartments.
Hadley Police
* Shawn M. Parsons, 27, of Hockanum Road, was arrested April 19 at 1:42 a.m. at a Hadley location on a charge of domestic assault and battery, police said.
* Scott M. Cyr, 20, of South Hadley, was arrested April 14 at 7:20 p.m. on East Street on a charge of violating an abuse prevention order, police said.
UMass Police
* Daniel M. Newman, 19, of Braintree, was arrested April 17 at 9:51 p.m. on University Drive on a charge of being a minor in possession of alcohol, police said.
* An 18-year-old Needham woman will be summoned to court on a charge of being a minor in possession of alcohol following an incident on Orchard Hill Drive April 17 at 3:51 p.m., police said.
* Jessie K. Shaw, 26, of Worthington, was arrested April 16 at 1:41 p.m. at the UMass Horse Farm on North Maple Street in Hadley on a fugitive from justice court warrant, police said.
* A 19-year-old Longmeadow man will be summoned to court on charges of leaving the scene of a property damage accident, wanton destruction of property valued at over $250 and a traffic violation, following an incident in Lot 11 off Stadium Drive April 16 at 1:34 a.m., police said.

DISTURBANCES
* 7:44 p.m. - Police kept the peace between a man and his roommate's girlfriend at a Puffton Village residence.
* 7:49 p.m. - A woman and her grown daughter arguing at Echo Village Apartments were calmed down by police.
LARCENY
* 10:57 a.m. - A license plate was stolen from a vehicle parked at Townehouse Apartments. The vehicle also sustained damage to its sideview mirror.
* 1:17 p.m. - A woman reported that more than $60 was removed from her purse after it was left inside a classroom at Crocker Farm School.
* 4:06 p.m. - A camera, iPod, cell phone, keys, an ID and cash were stolen from a woman's jacket following an incident on Hobart Lane.
VANDALISM
* 9:19 a.m. - Several words were found written on the back of a North Pleasant Street building.
NOISE COMPLAINTS
* 6:27 p.m. - Loud music at Southpoint Apartments was not considered excessive, but the residents agreed to turn it off.
ANIMAL COMPLAINTS
* 10:01 a.m. - A rabid raccoon on South East Street was not located by police.
* 2:13 p.m. - A possibly vicious dog locked inside a vehicle parked on College Street was not found when police got there.
MOTOR VEHICLE ACCIDENTS
* 3:56 p.m. - A minor two-car accident with no personal injuries occurred on University Drive, police said.
* 4:49 p.m. - Vehicles driven by Korin Davis, no age available, of Springfield, and John A.C. Heinte, no age available, of Townehouse Apartments, collided at the corner of Pine and North Pleasant streets, police said.
Davis complained of head pain and was examined at the scene by Amherst Fire Department personnel, but refused treatment, police said.
Both vehicles sustained minor damage and left the accident scene under their own power, according to police.

* 1:02 a.m. - Police stopped a vehicle with a headlight violation on Main Street and issued the driver a warning for the offense.
* 4:02 p.m. - Vehicles parked on the sidewalk on Northampton Road were moved before police got there.
Tuesday, April 1
SUSPICIOUS ACTIVITY
* 1:56 a.m. - A man trying to remove a campaign sign from a lawn on North Pleasant Street was warned about his actions.
* 3:09 p.m. - Teenagers loitering in a field off Cottage Street checked out OK.
CITIZEN ASSISTANCE
* 3:16 p.m. - Police spoke to a Puffton Village woman who was concerned about a man in prison in Indiana coming to her home. The following day at 3:42 a.m., the woman told police her phone line got disconnected. Police said they do not believe the phone line was cut off deliberately.
DISTURBANCES
* 9:52 p.m. - A homeless man causing a disturbance at the Souper Bowl restaurant was removed from the location by police. At 5:07 p.m. the following day, the man threw food at a waitress at Chez Albert restaurant before being sent on his way by police. Police said the man has also been issued a trespass notice to stay out of Subway.
NOISE COMPLAINTS
* 5:07 p.m. - Police issued a verbal warning to people playing loud music with obscene lyrics at a Grove Street location.
TRAFFIC
* 1;08 a.m. - A vehicle with an inspection sticker violation was stopped on East Pleasant Street, and the driver was issued a verbal warning.
* 2:18 a.m. - Police issued a citation to the driver of a uninspected vehicle and for failure to stay within marked lanes after the vehicle was stopped on Montague Road.
* 10:58 a.m. - Police took a complaint about a construction truck idling at a Market Hill Road location for more than an hour. The construction workers agreed to move the vehicle and turn its engine off.
* 11:43 a.m. - An erratic vehicle on West Street was not located by police.
* 4:39 p.m. - Police were unable to find a speeding vehicle reported on Sunset Avenue.
* 5:50 p.m. - A citation was issued to a delivery truck blocking the entrance to the police department's sallyport driveway.

* 1:21 a.m. - Two men found banging on the door to a downtown restaurant that was closed for the night were sent on their way.
* 11:12 a.m. - A man was seen taking two duffel bags from a Cottage Street home. Police checked the home and found nothing out of place.

* 10:14 a.m. - Police took a report of a disturbing message left on the cell phone of a Pine Street girl.
* 9:45 p.m. - McClellan Street residents sought assistance from police in dealing with an unruly housemate.

* 2:26 p.m. - A Southpoint Apartments resident told police he was threatened by a neighbor. Police are investigating.

* 7:26 p.m. - A mailbox was found placed in the street on East Hadley Road.

* 8:34 a.m. - A dog running loose on Salem Place was gone when police got there.
* 11:21 a.m. - A possibly rabid fox in the area of Lincoln Avenue was reported to police.

* 6:41 p.m. - One vehicle was towed following a two-car accident with no personal injuries on North Pleasant Street, police said.
* 8:15 p.m. - The vehicles involved in a minor accident on West Street were not located by police.
* 10:46 p.m. - One vehicle sustained heavy damage following a two-car accident with no personal injuries on North Pleasant Street at the entrance to Puffton Village, police said.
TRAFFIC
* 12:26 a.m. - A vehicle with an inspection sticker violation was stopped on Snell Street. The driver was issued a verbal warning.
* 12:47 a.m. - Police stopped a vehicle with a license plate light out on East Hadley Road, and gave the driver a verbal warning.
* 1:11 a.m. and 1:29 a.m. - Vehicles with lights violations were pulled over on Triangle Street and North Pleasant Street. Police issued the drivers verbal warnings.
* 7:16 a.m. - Police issued a citation to the driver of an unregistered vehicle stopped on South East Street. The vehicle was also towed for the offense.
* 8:15 a.m. - A vehicle blocking a parking space on North Pleasant Street that was reserved for a Department of Public Works project was issued a ticket.
* 5:01 p.m. - Police pulled over a vehicle with an expired registration on Amity Street and issued the driver a warning to put on the correct inspection sticker.
Thursday, April 3
SUSPICIOUS ACTIVITY
* 12:32 a.m. - A woman found urinating on Main Street was issued a warning and sent on her way.
* 1:40 a.m. - A shed at Crocker Farm School was secured after its door was found open. Nothing appeared to be missing.
CITIZEN ASSISTANCE
* 1:33 a.m. - Surrey Lane residents reported getting threatening emails. The man sending the emails was advised to stop the activity, and police advised the residents how they could obtain a restraining order.
* 10:54 a.m. - An Amherst woman told police she would like her former boyfriend to stop leaving messages on her answering machine. The woman planned to go to Eastern Hampshire District Court to obtain a restraining order.
* 1:09 p.m. - Police assisted a woman at a South Amherst apartment complex in dealing with management after an employee damaged her door while helping her back into her home.
* 2:54 p.m. - A man crawling in the middle of North Pleasant Street was not located by police.
* 10:57 p.m. - Police issued a trespass notice to a homeless man who has been living inside the hallways of two Main Street buildings in recent weeks.
LARCENY
* 2:11 p.m. - A laptop computer was reported stolen from an unlocked room at Grace Episcopal Church.
ANIMAL COMPLAINTS
* 5:14 a.m. - A goat that got its head stuck in a fence on East Leverett Road was successfully freed by police officers. The goat did not appear to be injured.
* 10:29 a.m. - A rotweiler has been reported running loose and scaring residents on Carriage Lane. Police spoke to the owner of the dog, who said he will be moving back to Belchertown with the dog in the coming weeks.
* 11:54 a.m. - Police went to Fearing Street to deal with a dog that is constantly barking.
MOTOR VEHICLE ACCIDENTS
* 3:09 p.m. - A vehicle parked on Pelham Road sustained minor damage when it was struck by a hit-and-run vehicle, police said.
* 3:55 p.m. - The right front tire of a vehicle fell off while it was traveling on Main Street near the railroad tracks, police said. The vehicle sustained minor damage, and no personal injuries were reported, police said.
* 4:56 p.m. - A minor two-car accident with no personal injuries took place at the intersection of Cowles Lane and North Pleasant Street, police said.
* 7:48 p.m. - One driver was issued a citation for failure to use care in stopping, following a minor two-car accident on North Pleasant Street, police said. A passenger in one of the vehicles complained of back and neck pain but refused medical attention, police said.

* 8:39 p.m. - Police issued a verbal warning to the driver of a vehicle with a burnt-out taillight, stopped on North Pleasant Street.
Friday, April 4
SUSPICIOUS ACTIVITY
* 1:04 a.m. - Police located a person loitering behind a downtown business.
* 9:39 p.m. - Gun shots heard in the area of Riverglade Drive were quiet when police got there.
CITIZEN ASSISTANCE
* 2:59 p.m. - Police assisted an Amherst woman who has a restraining order against her sister after the two women came in contact with each other, by accident, at an Amherst business.
* 3:34 p.m. - Police spoke to an Amherst woman concerned about a former roommate violating a restraining order by passing by the home in a vehicle and waving toward her. The former roommate returned her key to the home two days later at 9 p.m.
* 7:42 p.m. - A person who purchased alcohol at University Liquors was determined to be old enough to buy the beer.
* 9:23 p.m. - A Potwine Lane resident was assisted in retrieving belongings from a home.
DISTURBANCES
* 1:46 a.m. - Police calmed down a man yelling and swearing at people on Kellogg Avenue.
* 2:02 a.m. - A person kicking at a door at Southpoint Apartments was not located by police. At 2:20 a.m., the banging resumed and a drunken woman was located. Police brought her home. Police responded again at 2:58 a.m. when the woman returned. She was advised to leave or else would face charges.
* 8:08 p.m. - A homeless man causing problems at Mr. Chicken restaurant left when police got there. At 10:04 p.m., the man was found passed out inside one of the theaters at Amherst Cinema. He was escorted away from the location.
LARCENY
* 10:24 p.m. - A Brandywine Apartments resident told police her laptop was stolen during a party she had at her home.
VANDALISM
* 12:46 a.m. - Windows were broken on a car and a backhoe parked on Linden Ridge Road. At 4:34 a.m., mailboxes were found damaged on Bay Road in Amherst and also in Granby and Belchertown. The two men responsible for the damage were arrested in Granby and will likely face Amherst police charges.
BREAK-INS
* 3:44 p.m. - An iPod was stolen from a vehicle that was broken into while parked on Pomeroy Lane. A second vehicle was also entered.
NOISE COMPLAINTS
* 12:58 a.m. - Police issued a verbal warning to Pelham Road residents playing loud music and talking loudly.
* 12:58 a.m. - Loud music on Lessey Street was quiet when police got there.
* 11:35 p.m. - A verbal warning was issued by police to Townehouse Apartments residents holding a loud party.

* 7:47 a.m. - Police got a report of an animal sitting in a woman's driveway on Station Road.

SUSPICIOUS ACTIVITY
* 12:52 a.m. - Police confiscated a Select Board campaign sign from a man walking on Main Street and warned him about the consequences of stealing.
* 10:14 p.m. - A bonfire reported at Riverside Park Apartments was determined to be a small grill on which people were cooking.
CITIZEN ASSISTANCE
* 12:22 a.m. - A 16-year-old girl who didn't arrive home for her 9 p.m. curfew was located at Puffton Village. The mother was contacted to pick up the girl.
* 12:30 p.m. - Police assisted an Echo Village Apartments woman locate her daughter, following an argument in which the daughter left the residence.
LARCENY
* 10:29 a.m. - A Honda Civic stolen from The Boulders was found in Holyoke at 12:14 p.m. with a damaged steering column.
* 1:23 p.m. - Police took a report from a Lincoln Avenue resident whose iPod and laptop were stolen from his bedroom during a party at his home.
* 1:55 p.m. - A Trek bicycle valued at $300 was reported stolen from Phillips Street.
VANDALISM
* 6:56 a.m. - Two tires were found slashed on a vehicle parked at The Brook. At 8:45 a.m., police took a report of another vehicle at Southpoint Apartments that had two of its tires slashed.
NOISE COMPLAINTS
* 12:01 a.m. - Police issued a verbal warning to Gilreath Manor residents talking loudly. About 100 people were removed from the location. Police returned to the area again at 12:30 a.m. and issued a verbal warning to other residents making loud noise and playing loud music, and removed several more party-goers.
* 12:23 a.m. - A verbal warning was issued by police to Amity Street residents holding a loud party.
* 2:58 a.m. - Meadow Street residents playing loud music and yelling were issued a verbal warning by police.
* 7:01 p.m. - Police issued a verbal warning to Alpha Epsilon Pi residents playing loud music.
* 11:35 p.m. - Loud music playing at Colonial Village was quiet when police got there.
ANIMAL COMPLAINTS
* 5:30 p.m. - A sick fox in a yard on Mill Lane was not located by police.
MOTOR VEHICLE ACCIDENTS
* 4:05 a.m. - A vehicle that struck the curb and popped a tire was towed from Main Street, police said.
* 4:37 p.m. and 5:56 p.m. - Minor two-car accidents with no personal injuries occurred at the corner of South Pleasant and College streets and the intersection of Amity and South Prospect streets, police said.
* 11:39 p.m. - Three vehicles sustained minor damage following an accident in the Puffton Village parking lot, police said.
TRAFFIC
* 1 a.m. - Police issued a verbal warning to the driver of a vehicle stopped on Salem Place for having a headlight violation.
* 3:56 a.m. - A vehicle with a lights violation was stopped on South East Street. Police issued the driver a warning.
* 7:01 a.m. - A wire came down on East Pleasant Street. Western Massachusetts Eelectric Co. was notified.
* 10:30 a.m. - An erratic vehicle on Henry Street was not located by police.
* 2:29 p.m. - Police took a report of a possible drunken driver on Montague Road. The vehicle was not located.
* 6:38 p.m. - Four vehicles parked illegally on Sunset Avenue were issued tickets, and one vehicle was towed when it wasn't moved.
* 9:52 p.m. - A vehicle with only its parking headlights on was stopped on Lincoln Avenue and the driver was issued a warning.

* 1:33 a.m. - Amherst police asissted UMass police with an incident in Lot 50 off Sunset Avenue.
Sunday, April 6
SUSPICIOUS ACTIVITY
* 1:06 a.m. - Youths holding a party and possibly smashing mailboxes on Potwine Lane were not located by police. No damage was found in the neighborhood.
* 1:22 a.m. - A woman found urinating near a Dumpster on East Pleasant Street was warned about her activity and sent on her way after she was calmed down.
* 1:57 p.m. - A man police located on South Prospect Street near a Dumpster was determined to be removing steel. He checked out OK.
* 7:25 p.m. - Police found a group of 30 teenagers fighting in the North Cemetery on East Pleasant Street. Police determined the youths were part of an acting group.
CITIZEN ASSISTANCE
* 10:10 a.m. - A 21-year-old man sustained injuries during an altercation at a downtown bar the previous night, but returned to his Rhode Island home to recover. Police are investigating.
* 11:23 a.m. - A customer angry that his vehicle was towed to a Montague Road impound lot was referred to management at his apartment complex to deal with the issue.
* 1:01 p.m. - Police assisted a man to return to a Pondview Drive home to retrieve a cell phone charger.
DISTURBANCES
* 1:07 p.m. - A woman allegedly threw a cup of coffee at a man during an argument on Main Street. The woman was located and told police the verbal altercation had ended.
* 11:15 p.m. - Police calmed down a dispute between two women at a downtown location after one accused the other of having an affair with her husband. One woman had also hit the other woman and threatened to kill her.
VANDALISM
* 1:25 a.m. - Six windows were tampered with, and two had damaged and cut screens, during an attempted break-in at Crocker Farm School. No entry was gained to the building.
* 1:56 a.m. - A man who was upset about being denied entry to a party on Hobart Lane threw a bottle at a nearby vehicle, breaking a window and causing about $250 in damage before fleeing.
* 3:12 a.m. - A used sanitary pad was stuck to the headlights of a vehicle parked at an Amherst location.

* 9:12 p.m. - Gun shots heard in the area of The Boulders, but the source of the noise was not located.

* 11:26 a.m. - Police assisted management at the Survival Center in issuing a trespass notice to a man.
* 2:20 p.m. - A person was assisted in retrieving belongings from a Sunset Avenue home.
* 6:23 p.m. - Three homeless men were issued trespass notices to stay out of the Subway restaurant.
* 8:22 p.m. - Police issued a woman a trespass notice to stay out of Starbucks and Town Hall.
DISTURBANCES
* 12:03 a.m. - A man and woman arguing on Sunset Avenue were not located by police.
* 4:38 p.m. - Two people who got in an argument at the Cumberland Farms on Belchertown Road were not found.
LARCENY
* 11:44 a.m. - A pocketbook left in a room at the Center for Extended Care had $50 removed from it.
* 6:13 p.m. - Police took a report from a Mill Valley Estates resident about a debit card being used without authorization to make more than $5,000 in purchases.
VANDALISM
* 2:54 p.m. - A mailbox and house number sign were damaged at a Meadow Street home.
ASSAULTS
* 6:23 p.m. - A woman at Village Park told police she had just been assaulted and that her attacker had left the area. No further information was available.
ANIMAL COMPLAINTS
* 8:28 a.m. - Police located a loose dog on Main Street and issued a warning to its owner. The dog will return to Danvers at the end of the school year.
* 1:19 p.m. - A pit bull at Puffton Village that was supposed to have been removed from the apartment complex was located there. Management will deal with the issue.
MOTOR VEHICLE ACCIDENTS
* 10:28 a.m. - Frederick M. Leigh, 59, of Belchertown, was issued a citation for failure to use care in stopping after the vehicle he was driving on Belchertown Road near Stanley Street rearended a vehicle driven by Michael Caplette, 58, of Sturbridge, police said.
Caplette complained of back pain but refused treatment, police said, and both vehicles left the scene under their own power.
* 11:08 a.m. - Susanah T. Teluwo, 21, of Village Park, was issued a citation for failure to use care in backing, after the vehicle she was driving in the parking lot struck a parked vehicle owned by Blanca S. Osorio-Castillo of East Pleasant Street, police said.
Police determined the accident occurred during a dispute between Teluwo and her father over use of the vehicle.
* 2:42 p.m. - Christopher Sullivan, 22, no address available, was issued a citation for failure to use care in stopping after the vehicle he was driving on North Pleasant Street near Berkshire Terrace collided with a vehicle driven by Alex W. Zahoruiko, 20, no address available, police said.
Both vehicles sustained minor damage and no personal injuries were reported, police said.
* 3:03 p.m. - Police said they took a report of a tractor-trailer truck striking the overhang over parking spaces next to the Bangs Community Center a few days earlier.
* 5:21 p.m. - Erin K. Brunk, 23, of Warren, was issued a citation for failure to use care in stopping after the vehicle she was driving on University Drive rearended a vehicle driven by Kimberly Andrews, 19, of Bridgewater, police said. Both vehicles had to be towed, but no personal injuries were reported, according to police.

* 6:43 p.m. - Two women told police they were crossing Belchertown Road when a man yelled out from a passing vehicle and threatened to beat them up. The vehicle left the scene and was not located by police.

* 9:12 a.m. - Police took a report from the state Department of Conservation and Recreation about a hiker who allegedly saw two men with rifles in the area of Bear Mountain at the Notch.
* 9:21 p.m. - A homeless man loitering inside a Main Street building was not found by police.
CITIZEN ASSISTANCE
* 2 a.m. - Police assisted Gray Street residents in locating a roommate who had not returned home.
* 8:51 a.m. - An Amherst woman was assisted in getting her adult son to go to Franklin Medical Center in Greenfield for an evaluation.
* 10:01 a.m. - The Seniors and Law Enforcement Together council was advised about getting a new street number sign for a Meadow Street resident.
* 11:27 a.m. - People camping out on conservation land off South East Street will be issued a trespass notice to leave the area. Police said trash, food and clothes were found on the property, and there were also signs of two dogs being kept there.
* 11:15 p.m. - A homeless man with a bottle of alcohol on North Pleasant Street near the post office was advised to dump the beverage.

* 10:23 a.m. - Bad checks were reported used to pay for items at Ren's Mobil.

* 6:14 p.m. - Both sides of a vehicle parked at Alpine Commons were found scratched with a key.

* 4:05 p.m. - Police issued a verbal warning to people playing a loud car stereo at The Boulders.

* 3:10 p.m. - Police helped Pelham Road residents remove a squirrel from a closet.
MOTOR VEHICLE ACCIDENTS
* 11:45 a.m. - A minor two-car accident with no personal injuries took place on North Pleasant Street, police said.
* 2:36 p.m. - Denis Kolesin, 19, of Brooklyn, N.Y., was issued a citation for passing in a no-passing zone, after the vehicle he was driving on Montague Road near Summer Street collided with a vehicle driven by Jillian Ryan, 21, of Roslindale, police said.
Ryan was also issued a citation for operating a motor vehicle with an expired registration, police said.
Kolesin's vehicle was towed, but no personal injuries were reported, police said.

* 11:34 a.m. - A vehicle with an expired registration was stopped on Pelham Road. Police called for a tow.
* 1:01 p.m. - An erratic vehicle on College Street, passing vehicles in a no-passing zone, was not located by police.

* 12:18 p.m. - A counterfeit $5 bill found at Greenfield Savings Bank was turned over to the Secret Service.

* 8:16 a.m. - Graffiti possibly affiliated with gangs was found on a building near the Amtrak station.
* 1:11 p.m. - Graffiti was found on a "slow" sign on Stony Hill Road. Police said the graffiti will be removed.

* 11:12 a.m. - An injured rabbit found on North East Street was brought to a shelter.

* 12:20 p.m. - Two pieces of luggage abandoned in a conservation area on Oakwood Circle were removed by the Department of Public Works.
* 2 p.m. - Two college students who may have had a gun at a North Pleasant Street home were not located by police.
* 6:40 p.m. - Amherst College police were notified about four teenagers walking across the railroad overpass on College Street.
DISTURBANCES
* 12:46 a.m. - A homeless man harassing customers in front of the downtown bars was sent on his way. At 1:30 a.m., the man was seen on Triangle Street, but fled. Police found him again at 2:13 p.m. in front of Antonio's where he was bothering passers-by.
* 11:18 a.m. - Police kept the peace between a pedestrian and a delivery truck driver arguing on North Pleasant Street.
* 7:42 p.m. - A man and woman arguing at a Montague Road home were calmed down by police.
VANDALISM
* 2:52 p.m. - A Puffton Village woman requested additional police patrols after her vehicle was scratched two nights earlier.
* 7:38 p.m. - A window was smashed on a vehicle parked at The Boulders.

MOTOR VEHICLE ACCIDENTS
* 3:16 p.m. - Betsy A. Pelz, 63, of New Salem, was issued a citation for failure to stay within marked lanes after the vehicle she was driving on College Street collided with a vehicle driven by Cynthia M. Stankiewicz, 49, of River Drive, Hadley, police said.
Damage to both vehicles was minor and no personal injuries were reported, police said.
* 7:45 p.m. - A two-car accident took place on Northampton Road and one of the drivers was taken by Amherst Fire Department ambulance to Cooley Dickinson Hospital in Northampton after complaining of neck pain, police said.

* 9:59 a.m. - A vehicle with a registration sticker violation was stopped on North Pleasant Street and the driver was issued a warning.
* 2:39 p.m. - A vehicle blocking a driveway on North Pleasant Street was moved.
* 3:46 p.m.- Police took a complaint about vehicles driving over a sidewalk and causing damage on Sunset Avenue.

* 6:01 p.m. - Police assisted firefighters in removing a boy stuck in a swing at Groff Park. The swing was damaged while getting the boy out.

SUSPICIOUS ACTIVITY
* 12:50 a.m. - College-age men fighting near a North Pleasant Street business told police they were just goofing off.
* 9:28 p.m. - Police determined a man with white stripes painted on his face and standing outside a University Drive restaurant was a pledge for a UMass fraternity.
* 10:56 p.m. - Youths smoking marijuana at Echo Village Apartments were reported to police. When police got there, they found about 10 youths smoking cigarettes.
VANDALISM
* 8:17 a.m. - Graffiti was found on a garage door and van parked at the Jean Elder House on Chestnut Street. At 1:17 p.m., police took a report of the rear door and walls spray painted at the Chestnut Court community room.
* 10 a.m. - Police located the suspects who broke windows on a vacant home on Cowls Road. They agreed to make restitution with the owner of the home.
* 1:55 p.m. - The emergency doors at Ann Whalen Apartments were found damaged by vandals.
BREAK-INS
* 8:27 a.m. - A GPS unit was reported stolen from a vehicle parked at Iota Gamma Upsilon on North Pleasant Street.
MOTOR VEHICLE ACCIDENTS
* 4:26 p.m. - Edward Levine, 80, of Cherry Lane, was driving his vehicle on East Pleasant Street when he lost control of it, went over a curb and hit a fire hydrant, causing significant flooding on the street, police said.
Levine sustained injuries and was transported by Amherst Fire Department to Cooley Dickinson Hospital in Northampton for treatment, police said.
Levine told police that he lost control of the vehicle after hitting a pothole, but police found no evidence of any pothole in the area of the accident, police said.
TRAFFIC
* 12:40 a.m. - A vehicle with a broken taillight was stopped on College Street and the driver was issued a verbal warning.
* 1:40 a.m.- Police stopped a vehicle that failed to stay within marked lanes on Main Street and issued the driver a verbal warning.
* 1:41 a.m. - Police issued a verbal warning to the driver of a vehicle that failed to stop on South Pleasant Street.
* 1:03 p.m. and 2:13 p.m.- Vehicles with malfunctioning brake lights were pulled over on Middle Street. The drivers were issued warnings for the offenses.
* 3 p.m. - Police pulled over a vehicle with a malfunctioning headlight on Pomeroy Lane. Police issued the driver a verbal warning.
* 8:59 p.m. - A vehicle with an expired registration was stopped on North Pleasant Street. Police issued the driver a warning and called for a tow.
* 9:24 p.m. - An erratic vehicle on South Pleasant Street was not located by police.
