* A chimney fire was extinguished at a South East Street residence May 3 at 12:01 p.m.

* Absorbent material was used to clean up oil-burner fuel that spilled in a Main Street basement May 1 at 10:34 a.m.

* A blocked pellet-stove air intake caused smoke at a Montague Road residence April 29 at 9 a.m.

* A report of an outside fire was caused by flashing yellow lights and water mist from DPW crews flushing a fire hydrant at Pomeroy Lane May 5 at 8:48 p.m.

* No cause could be found for a carbon monoxide detector to sound at a Gray Street residence May 3 at 1:52 p.m.

* No cause could be found for a report of a pepper spray odor at Enfield House, Hampshire College, May 5 at 12:51 a.m.

* A malicious false alarm was pulled at the UMass Curry Hicks Cage May 3 at 11:29 p.m.

* Alarms were sounded by steaming food at a North Pleasant Street business April 29 at 4:32 p.m.; smoking materials at Dakin House, Hampshire College, April 30 at 11:16 p.m.; cleaning materials at Arnold House, UMass, May 2 at 11:19 p.m.; cooking smoke at Prescott House, Hampshire College, May 4 at 2:37 p.m.; cooking smoke from a microwave at Moore Dorm, Amherst College, May 4 at 4:01 p.m.; cooking smoke at Enfield House, Hampshire College, May 5 at 8:44 p.m.

* Alarms sounded for no reason at the UMass Mullins Center, May 1 at 6:25 p.m.

There were 90 ambulance runs and 20 fire calls between April 29 and May 6.
