Stein, O'Keeffe take Amherst Select Board race; Sanderson wins schools post

AMHERST -- Diana Stein and Stephanie O'Keeffe swept to strong victories in the Amherst Select Board race on Tuesday, according to unofficial vote counts.
Incumbent Hwei-Ling Greeney was third among five candidates for two seats.
Catherine Sanderson, meanwhile, won the contest for School Committee, besting Chrystel Romero, who held the seat for over a year, by 2,354 votes to 912.
Unofficial counts compiled by the campaigns showed Stein winning the top spot with 2,203 votes, O'Keeffe close behind with 2,139, and Greeney with 1,392 votes.
In other races, Margaret Roberts and Aaron Hayden won seats on the Redevelopment Authority, besting Carol Gray and Jim Oldham.
John Coull will be the new Oliver Smith Will elector, and Harrison Gregg was reelected Town Meeting Moderator with 682 votes to challenger Nancy Gordon's 242.
