MONDAY, JUNE 11

SUSPICIOUS ACTIVITY

4:21 p.m. – The source of loud noise that an observer described as “deafening” coming from the Boltwood parking garage was not identified by police.

10:37 p.m. – Someone loitering in the woods near a Pine Grove home was not located.

CITIZEN ASSISTANCE

7:50 p.m. –  A resident reported a scam phone call in which a person pretending to be Sen. Edward Markey told him that he was awarded a federal grant.

DISTURBANCES

2:28 p.m. – A woman called police for assistance to remove her son from her home following an argument.

RECOVERED PROPERTY

11:32 a.m. – Management at Hampshire Bicycle Exchange reported receiving a stolen bicycle. The bike was taken from Hadley and Hadley Police are handling the investigation.

MOTOR VEHICLE

ACCIDENTS

2:38 p.m. – A two-car accident occurred on Bay Road when a girl riding a bicycle cut in front of one vehicle, forcing the driver to stop abruptly, police said. The child was not injured, but the drivers reported suffering neck and back pain, though both declined medical attention.

 

TUESDAY, JUNE 12

SUSPICIOUS ACTIVITY

4:03 p.m. – Police were notified about a man with signs making disparaging remarks about a public official standing at the intersection of South Pleasant and Main streets.

9:33 p.m. – A man sleeping in a downtown ATM was awoken and sent on his way.

DISTURBANCES

12:29 p.m. – An angry customer at a College Street restaurant who was upset at being charged for an empty cup was gone before police got there.

TRAFFIC

7:08 p.m. – Officers picked up a large tree limb that fell onto East Pleasant Street near Clark Hill Road.

11:40 a.m. – A block of cement that fell onto West Street near Bay Road was removed from the road.

 

WEDNESDAY, JUNE 13

SUSPICIOUS ACTIVITY

11:14 a.m. – A man sleeping on a bench in the Kinsey Memorial Garden at the Jones Library, making it difficult for gardeners to work around him, was sent on his way.

12:09 p.m. – Police found a man on a downtown street consuming an alcoholic beverage. He will be summoned to court for the offense.

CITIZEN ASSISTANCE

1:04 p.m. – Police assisted a family resolve a dispute over possessions from a deceased releative. Some of the items had inadvertently been sold to an Amherst business instead of being given to the man’s daughter.

4:41 p.m. –  A resident who called for assistance after she refused to pay movers extra to put her belongings back in the home, rather than just leaving them on the lawn, was advised the matter was civil and not in the police department’s jurisdiction.

FIGHTS

10:58 p.m. – A man who got into a physical altercation with another man at Mill Valley Estates while visiting his former girlfriend was calmed down and driven away by his sister.

ANIMAL COMPLAINTS

7:05 a.m. – Cows in the middle of Bay Road were moved from the location by their owner.

3 p.m. – The animal welfare officer is looking into an incident in which a cat bit a person on Harris Street.

TRAFFIC

9:42 a.m. – Youths driving a remote-controlled car into traffic near the intersection of North Pleasant and McClellan streets were not located by police.
