MONDAY, JUNE 25

CITIZEN ASSISTANCE

6:18 a.m. – A Colonial Village woman turned over items she is worried could pose a danger to herself, including a pair of scissors, a hook used for crocheting and a needle, thread and thimble.

DISTURBANCES

11:09 a.m. – An unruly woman on board a PVTA bus in the area of University Drive calmed down before police responded.

LARCENY

2:34 p.m. – A dozen packages of shrimp valued at $45.43 were reported stolen from CVS Pharmacy on North Pleasant Street.

MOTOR VEHICLE

ACCIDENTS

2:22 p.m. – A two-car rearending accident with possible injuries occurred on Belchertown Road, police said.

TRAFFIC

6 p.m. – A tree that fell across the entrance to Village Park off East Pleasant Street was removed by management at the apartment complex.

TUESDAY, JUNE 26

SUSPICIOUS ACTIVITY

12:22 a.m. – People sitting in a vehicle at Groff Park were reminded the site closes at dark and were sent on their way.

1:13 p.m. – Two tires were punctured on a vehicle parked in South Amherst.

CITIZEN ASSISTANCE

9:49 a.m. – A man was issued a trespass notice to stay out of two Amherst stores.

VANDALISM

4:19 p.m. – An apartment at Puffton Village was ransacked while the resident was gone for two weeks. She told police she would get back in touch if she found any items stolen.

ANIMAL COMPLAINTS

4:18 p.m. – Two dogs in distress in a vehicle parked outside a downtown restaurant were gone when police got there.

WEDNESDAY, JUNE 27

SUSPICIOUS ACTIVITY

2:45 p.m. – A person looking into vehicles parked at Mill Valley Estates fled before police got there.

4:50 p.m. – Police took a report of a man scaring employees at a University Drive store by standing across the street and making gestures toward them. He was advised he was close to violating the terms of a restraining order.

7:14 p.m. – A woman returned home to South East Street to find a basement door open. There was no evidence of any break in.

10:25 p.m. – People in a vehicle parked at Groff Park were reminded the location closes at dark.

DISTURBANCES

9:38 p.m. – A woman screaming on board a PVTA bus had passed out when police got to it when parked on North Pleasant Street. She was awoken and sent on her way.

LARCENY

9:34 a.m. – All four wheels were stolen from a 2015 Maserati Ghibli parked at Rolling Green Apartments. The vehicle was placed on cement blocks before the tires and rims were removed.

THURSDAY, JUNE 28

SUSPICIOUS ACTIVITY

7:04 a.m. – Officers removed a homeless man sleeping in the dining room at Clark House.

8:09 p.m. – A woman called police to report her Facebook page was hacked by someone who left messages in Italian posted on it. She was advised of ways to better secure her account.

9:06 p.m. – Gun shots or fireworks were heard in the area of Colonial Village, but police were unable to find anyone in the area, even with a search assisted by K9 Marvin.

10:04 p.m. – Three bicycles stolen from a patio outside Rolling Green Apartments were located with assistance from K9 Marvin. The teenagers who allegedly took the bicycles fled and have not been identified. The bicycles were returned to their owners.

RECOVERED PROPERTY

3:27 p.m. – A pellet gun was turned over by an East Pleasant Street resident to police for destruction.

VANDALISM

7:36 p.m. – A vehicle parked at Puffer’s Pond was scratched with a key.

ANIMAL COMPLAINTS

11:52 a.m. – The animal welfare officer assisted UMass Police in getting a snapping turtle back to a pond on North Pleasant Street.

MOTOR VEHICLE

ACCIDENTS

1:33 p.m. – A two-car crash with possible injuries occurred on Meadow Street, police said.

TRAFFIC

4:43 a.m. – Police diverted traffic from Pulpit Hill Road after a tree fell across it.

6:21 a.m. – Firefighters extinguished a lamp post on fire at Townehouse Apartments.

FRIDAY, JUNE 29

CITIZEN ASSISTANCE

11:52 p.m. – A man sending harassing text messages to an Amherst woman was advised to stop the activity.

DISTURBANCES

12:55 a.m. – A man and woman arguing at a North East Street location left before police got there.

ANIMAL COMPLAINTS

6:48 a.m. – A loose cow on Bay Road was returned to its field.

MOTOR VEHICLE

ACCIDENTS

12:25 p.m. – Police said they are investigating a hit-and-run accident on Dickinon Street that left one vehicle with a large dent in its back bumper.

TRAFFIC

8:05 p.m. – Police issued a warning to a driver who failed to stop for pedestrians in a Main Street crosswalk.

11:55 p.m. – A driver who was observed sending text messages was stopped on North Pleasant Street and issued a warning for the offense.

SATURDAY, JUNE 30

SUSPICIOUS ACTIVITY

10:35 a.m. – People at Mill River Recreation Area called police concerned about a garbage bag left near a tree. Officers opened the bag, which contained two umbrellas and sleeping materials.

CITIZEN ASSISTANCE

12:30 a.m. – An Amherst woman told police someone entered her home and switched her laxative pills in an effort to poison her. Police found no evidence to support her allegations.

10:54 a.m. – Police responded to a South Amherst apartment where a landlord was concerned that tenants were moving items in a day before their lease began. Police advised the landlord it was a civil matter.

DISTURBANCES

8:26 p.m. – Police kept the peace between a man and woman arguing at Presidential Apartments.

NOISE COMPLAINTS

9:37 a.m. – A Rolling Green Apartments resident was advised to speak to management after complaining about children living in an adjacent apartment making noise by running on the floor and screaming.

MOTOR VEHICLE

ACCIDENTS

11:35 a.m. – One vehicle was towed following a two-car accident with no personal injuries at the intersection of Lincoln Avenue and Northampton Road, police said.

SUNDAY, JULY 1

DISTURBANCES

12:42 p.m. – A man who came to an Amherst home yelled at a woman’s teenage daughter because she didn’t open the door quickly enough after repeated knocking.

NOISE COMPLAINTS

8:15 p.m. – Police spoke to neighbors on Potwine Lane to resolve noise complaint issues each filed against the other.

ANIMAL COMPLAINTS

9:42 a.m. – A person reported a confrontation with a bear on Harris Mountain Road. The bear was not located.

MOTOR VEHICLE

ACCIDENTS

12:07 p.m. – A pedestrian was hit by a vehicle on North Pleasant Street, police said. No additional details were available.

TRAFFIC

2:22 p.m. – Police placed traffic cones near a fire hydrant on Mill Street to prevent cars from parking close to it.
