MONDAY, JULY 9 SUSPICIOUS ACTIVITY
2 p.m. — A Mill Valley Estates resident reported receiving a threatening letter and phone call from a former tenant.
CITIZEN ASSISTANCE
9:26 a.m. — Police were notified by a North Amherst resident that her roommate’s boyfriend is harassing her by asking her out on a date. She also informed police that when she told her roommate about the man’s advances toward her, the roommate was dismissive of her concerns.
DISTURBANCES
11:13 a.m. – A woman refusing to pay her fare and causing a scene on a PVTA bus on North Pleasant Street calmed down when police got there.
LARCENY
3:20 p.m. – A woman’s bicycle was reported stolen from a Taylor Street home while the resident was away during part of the weekend.
TUESDAY, JULY 10 SUSPICIOUS ACTIVITY
8:43 p.m. – A man took a soda and a prepackaged shepherd’s pie from a South Amherst store without paying for the items, but returned a short time later to make restitution. He will be issued a trespass notice to stay out of the business.

10:58 p.m. – Police took a report from a woman who said she was chased by a man who was laughing on High Street. She hid behind a tree and the man eventually left the location.

1:50 p.m. – A fight was reported in the area of the Bangs Community Center.

4:51 p.m. – Goats loose on West Pomeroy Lane were back in their field before police got there.

1:34 p.m. – A vehicle sustained minor damage when it was struck by a hit-and-run vehicle on Lincoln Avenue, police said.
WEDNESDAY, JULY 11 SUSPICIOUS ACTIVITY
1:31 a.m. – A man playing a video game inside a parked vehicle at Puffer’s Pond was advised the site closes at night.
12:50 p.m. – Police were notified about homeless individuals loitering near a downtown apartment building.
LARCENY
9:49 a.m. – Police took a report from a resident who said a friend was able to use his account to send money to other people. Police are investigating the incident, which led to the theft of $1,300.
11:22 a.m. – A counterfeit $100 bill was used to buy alcohol at a package store. Police are investigating.

10:46 a.m. – Homeowners on Hills Road reported someone may have squatted in their home while they were away. Police are investigating.

1:14 p.m. – Dana Street residents were warned to no longer tie their aging dog to a tree outside the home.

THURSDAY, JULY 12 SUSPICIOUS ACTIVITY
3:53 a.m. – People talking inside a vehicle at Puffer’s Pond were advised the conservation area is closed at dark.
LARCENY
12:19 a.m. – Two men seen taking wood from in front of a University Drive store put it back when they were observed by officers. They told police they were just goofing around and had no intention of bringing the wood to a homeless encampment in the nearby woods.
12:13 p.m. – Four tires were reported stolen from a vehicle parked at Rolling Green Apartments.

9:17 a.m. – The animal welfare officer is working with Thayer Street residents to locate a cat that has fought with other cats and bitten people.

8:32 a.m. – Both vehicles were towed following a two-car accident at the intersection of Station Road and South East Street, police said.
11:08 p.m. – A tired driver told police she lost control of her vehicle on College Street and clipped a utility pole, police said.

6:36 p.m. – Police kept the peace between a street vendor and a passer-by arguing in front of a North Pleasant Street restaurant.

10:23 p.m. – A woman reported missing by Ware Police was found safely by Amherst Police at Mill River Recreation Area.
SATURDAY, JULY 14 SUSPICIOUS ACTIVITY
4:57 p.m. – A solicitor seeking landscaping jobs on Old Farm Road was not located.
5:36 p.m. – Police spoke to a family causing issues for people at Puffer’s Pond by playing loud music with obscene lyrics and having a barbecue generating a lot of smoke.
CITIZEN ASSISTANCE
1:36 a.m. – Police assisted Mill Hollow Apartments residents deal with an out-of-control homeless man whom they invited to stay the night. The man was gone before police got there, but he left behind some food items in the refrigerator.
RECOVERED PROPERTY
12:46 a.m. – A backpack with alcohol and personal belongings was recovered from the bushes near the Bangs Community Center.
NOISE COMPLAINTS
4:43 p.m. – Police issued a verbal warning to Summer Street residents holding a loud party with about 20 people playing drinking games behind the home.

4:33 a.m. – Dogs barking at a Mill Street home were calm when police got there.

2:13 a.m. – Police assisted a woman on Montague Road get back to her home after she earlier accepted a ride from a man she met at a bar and then got concerned about his behavior.

1:42 a.m. – Police issued a verbal warning to South Pleasant Street residents disturbing their neighbors by yelling in the backyard.
