Smithsonian Week at Springfield Museums

In recognition of the centennial of the birth of President John F. Kennedy, one of Massachusetts’s most notable native sons, the Springfield Museums are hosting a range of events, from lectures and performances to exhibitions, that will highlight JFK’s legacy and the impact of his presidency on American history and culture.

At the heart of the Dec. 8-14 events is an exhibit of 27 iconic pictures of Kennedy, his wife, Jackie and their children, taken by noted photographer Richard Avedon shortly before Kennedy assumed the presidency in early 1961. The photos are on loan from the National Museum of American History in Washington, D.C.
