NORTHAMPTON — A Hampshire Superior Court grand jury handed up 11 more indictments to two men June 27, relating to a violent Amherst home invasion last October.

The first man, Patrick M. Bemben, 26, of Hadley, was indicted on five additional counts for his alleged involvement with the Oct. 30, 2016, home invasion in which individuals armed and wearing tactical gear allegedly ransacked a home at 943 South East St. in pursuit of drugs and valuables during the early morning hours.

Bemben has been charged with three counts of armed robbery with a rifle, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, and failure to register a rifle, a .40-caliber Smith & Wesson KEL-TEC semiautomatic rifle.

He has not been arraigned on the charges. He previously pleaded not guilty in Superior Court to charges of conspiracy to commit home invasion, conspiracy to commit armed masked robbery, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon causing serious injury, three counts of armed masked robbery, nighttime breaking and entering with intent to commit a felony, larceny from a building and use of body armor during a felony.

Bemben was released from custody on $35,000 bail in January and completed a 90-day residential drug treatment program. His attorney, David Hoose, told a judge at that time that Bemben suffered from a crippling opiate addiction.

The second man, Warrens Gelin, 22, of Springfield, was indicted on three counts of armed robbery with a firearm (subsequent offense), unlawful possession of a firearm with two prior convictions for violent crimes, possession of a firearm during commission of a felony and use of body armor during commission of a felony.

Gelin is being held on $50,000 bail without prejudice following his arraignment in Superior Court on June 5. On that day, he pleaded not guilty to conspiracy to commit home invasion, conspiracy to commit armed and masked robbery, assault and battery, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, aggravated assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, three counts of armed and masked robbery, breaking and entering in the nighttime and larceny in a building. He has not yet been arraigned on the new charges.

Five other people arrested and arraigned in Superior Court on charges related to the incident are Stephanos Georgiadis of Hadley; Joseph T. Barcelos of Belchertown; Tivon LaValley of Hadley; John Joseph Niemiec III of Sunderland; and Brittany Buckowski of Sunderland. All have pleaded not guilty and all but LaValley have either made bail or been released with conditions.
