Robert Brooks of Amherst sent me a reminder that there is no “s” after saving in the phrase, Daylight Saving Time. My date book also lists the event without the “s.”

That spelling exercise is a segue to remind everyone to change clocks this weekend. Digital devices do it automatically.

Harpo Power of Amherst sent me a postcard picturing a dog sitting in a pub window from Ireland. He wrote that he is traveling around western Ireland from a base in Galway with friends. He said the weather is wild.

Andrew Starr, formerly of Amherst, sent an email from Kansas to tell me the good news about Didi Olevsky Gluck, the daughter of Estela Olevsky of Amherst and the late Julian Olevsky.

She and a friend have launched a media platform, The Plum, for women over 40. It is aimed at Gen X. According to the release he sent, it will handle everything from the deepest financial fears to the deepest wrinkles with wit and reverence.

Didi worked at More, Shape, Real Simple and Marie Claire. She is a member of Manifest Custom Content, a marketing agency.

The Wesley United Methodist Church will hold its annual fair Saturday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the church, 98 N. Maple St., in Hadley. Admission is free.

Many faith communities and nonprofit groups will hold fairs over the next few weeks. Check the listings for information.

Meg Gage of Amherst sent me an email to note that volunteers from the District 1 Neighborhood Association weeded and winterized the garden in the middle of the main North Amherst intersection and the smaller triangular garden at the end of Summer Street. It’s a big improvement, she wrote.

The Woman’s Club, of which I am a member, is hosting its annual fundraising wine-tasting and dinner Nov. 9, with the tasting at 6 p.m. and dinner at 7 p.m. Tickets are $35. For reservations, call 253-2977.

The event is open to the public. The club funds two scholarships for Amherst Regional High School students.
