Margaret Mastrangelo: Hadley write-in candidate makes a case

Wednesday, March 31, 2021

On Tuesday, April 13, Hadley will hold elections. I have launched a write-in campaign for the recently-opened seat on the Board of Health. With decades of experience — first as a registered nurse, and then as a registered family nurse practitioner — I felt a tremendous pull to be of service when COVID struck last year. During my 28 years’ experience in health care seeing patients, I also developed databases to monitor and assess patient outcomes for chronic illness. This experience gave me insights in the management of chronic diseases across populations, augmenting my knowledge base in the many ways that public health policies can affect populations.

I believe that the current position on the Board of Health aligns well with my skill set and my desire to give back to the community. As a write-in candidate to the Board of Health, I would be taking the place of Emma Dragon, a registered nurse who has chosen not to run again. Ms. Dragon and the other Board of Health members, Dr. Susan Mosler and Mr. Greg Mish, have worked incredibly hard during these extraordinary times responding to the pandemic in addition to doing other tasks related to public health.

Like them, I commit to working on behalf of our residents and businesses to ensure community health and safety through decisions that are strongly rooted in evidence-based health practices. I hope that you will give me the opportunity to work on your behalf for the town of Hadley.
