Noncitizens should never be allowed to vote! Doing so would violate the privilege afforded to actual citizens. I understand the intent: to give noncitizen residents a voice; however, there are other means for them to express their views, such as town meetings, letters to editors, and communication to representatives. Allowing noncitizen residents to vote would open up a real opportunity for voter fraud: voting in more than one town, faking residence in order to sway an election outcome, etc. Let’s not go down a well-intentioned path that could lead to more problems than it might solve.
