Dave King: What about warmongers in McGovern’s own party?

The Gazette recently published an article quoting U.S. Rep. Jim McGovern excoriating the Republican Party [“McGovern unleashes scorn on GOP,” June 24]. It is true the leadership of that party are sociopaths, bent on immiserating the most vulnerable of the nation’s population as a matter of policy, but it pains me to acknowledge that the Biden administration, while marginally better on domestic policy, is just as bad or worse on the international stage.

This is illustrated by the recent nomination of twice-convicted war criminal Elliot Abrams to a State Department post, a creature who presided over the horrors the U.S. inflicted on Nicaragua, El Slavador and Guatemala, was convicted over his role in Iran-Contra, and was a major player in the illegal war by the U.S. on the country of Iraq.

Also announced recently, the Biden administration has approved the sale of cluster bombs, banned by an international treaty because they kill and maim children who pick up unexploded “bomblets,” but a treaty to which our rogue government is not a signatory.

The Biden administration deployed hundreds of U.S. soldiers to prop up a coup regime in Peru that uses live bullets against protesters, and sells Apache helicopters to the Israeli government they use against Palestinians.

And what about that record Biden military budget, which starves our society of the resources needed to care for and educate our people while flooding the planet with yet more dangerous weapons for despots and lunatics to wield against who knows whom?

Of course I am sure we will all be comforted when through some miscalculation a nuke is launched from one of the warships Biden has deployed to encircle China that it is a caring and compassionate Democratic administration that has brought about World War III and not some mean Republican one. There is plenty of evidence that Republicans are terrible, but it is this Democratic administration that is undermining democracy across the globe and hastening nuclear catastrophe.
