HADLEY — A Maine man wielding a knife during an altercation at a Route 9 convenience store was arrested Monday morning, according to Hadley police.

Paul Fazzi, 29, was arrested at 10 a.m. inside the Cumberland Farms, 109 Russell St., on a charge of assault with a dangerous weapon, police said.

Police Chief Michael Mason said the incident began over an argument about speeding in the parking lot and escalated to the point where a knife was shown and a threat was made.

Hadley police Officer Dan Phillips dealt with both people involved in the incident, Mason said, and was assisted by a Ware police officer who ran across the street from the Hadley Juvenile Court.

The incident remains under investigation, but the other person involved is not facing charges, Mason said.

There was no risk to the public during the incident, Mason said.
