Wants Amherst to view fluoride seriously

I was pleased to see the importance that New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady puts on drinking water, and staying hydrated in his new book, “The TB12 Method: How to Achieve a Lifetime of Sustained Peak Performance,” and that he recommends not ingesting fluoride.

He writes, “Depending on where you live, most sources of tap water contain fluoride, chlorine, and, in some cases, lead. Excessive amounts of both fluoride and chlorine have now been linked to a number of health risks. Drink tap water only if you filter it first, which gets rid of many impurities.”

I read this after seeing the results of a National Institutes of Health-funded study of pregnant women in Mexico that found an association between fluoride in the women’s urine and reduced intelligence of their offspring.

What is it going to take for Amherst to view fluoride seriously?
