Nina M. Scott: Moved by Leverett, Kentucky discussions

Wednesday, November 13, 2019

I have been delighted by the Gazette’s coverage of the meeting of the Leverett-Letcher County, Kentucky group. My husband and I attended the meeting on Oct. 13 and were very much moved by the openness, affection and tolerance shown by both groups.

The Leverett contingent said that within their group they had gotten to know each other better, and admired the way the Kentucky folks did so much for each other. The Kentucky group was grateful for the careful listening and respect which the Leverett group had demonstrated.

As Letha Dollarhyde said, “Folks up here have important jobs, but they really listen to me,” adding succinctly: “Basically we’re all the same — we all have mice in our houses.”
