SUNDERLAND — The Select Board last week issued a request for proposals seeking a developer to build a senior housing project at 120 North Main St.

The proposal request comes after the board unanimously passed a motion recently declaring the property surplus, allowing the land to be sold. Residents previously authorized that at a special Town Meeting.

According to the proposal request, the town is seeking “qualified developers for the sale and development of approximately 18 units of rental housing for low and moderate income seniors on approximately 2.8 acres of town-owned land.”

The request goes on the say that “the town intends to sell the property and enter into a land development agreement with the selected developer.”

An on-site briefing was held at the town hall Thursday. The deadline for requests is Nov. 22.
