Good news of a sort: Our state and federal taxes don’t have to be mailed until April 17.

Happy Patriot’s Day, which makes the tax delay happen.

Condolences to the family of Harrison Gregg. He was dedicated to the community and provided decades of service. He was our Town Moderator for almost 20 years. He was a moderator and sang in the choir at South Church. He led the Emily Dickinson walk in May and served as a docent at her home. He recited her poems on many occasions.

The service will be April 21 at 11 a.m. at South Church.

What a surprise! My son P.J., who lives in Maryland, was on television talking about the Cherry Blossom festival. You can see the video by going to channel 4 NBC Washington, D.C. He is wearing a blue hoodie and my twin granddaughters are seen at the end of the clip. The segment is called “Cherry Blossoms Weather Nippy Winds.”

When I visited in April several years ago, we walked around the tidal basin to see the blossoms. It was a sunny day and the scene was spectacular. It was also very crowded.

The day he was taped was cold and windy.

My daughter-in-law, Moe, is Japanese, so the cherry blossom visits have personal meaning.

Reynolds Winslow of Amherst sent me an email to note the annual meeting of the Martin Luther King Breakfast Committee will be held April 21 at 10 a.m. at the Wesley United Methodist Church in Hadley.
