Nina and Jim Scott of Amherst sent me an email about the Five College Learning in Retirement annual meeting that will be held May 6 at 1:30 p.m. at the Smith College Center. A preview of next year’s program begins at 2 p.m. This is free and open to the public.

The annual Community Renaissance Fair is also May 6 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Arthur Kinney Center for Renaissance Studies on East Pleasant Street. The free event includes music, theater, dance, falconry, sword and craft demonstrations and food. You can see the complete lineup at the website.

What else can you do on May 6? Hear Jill Lapore, who wrote “The Secret Life of Wonder Woman.” She will speak at 3 p.m. at the Regional Middle School auditorium. It’s free and open to the public. The book was part of the townwide read. I highly recommend it if you haven’t read it.

My neighbor Phyllis Jordan sent me an email about a Valley Light Opera giant costume sale that will be held May 5 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 74 Tracy Circle in Orchard Valley.

The costumes range from medieval to modern. She said the costumes are priced to sell.

You could pick up a great Halloween outfit.
