Josh Berins of Amherst sent me an email about the Relay for Life Craft Fair that will be held July 21 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Elks Lodge, 17 Spring St. in Florence.

Andrew Starr, who used to live in Amherst but now lives in Kansas City, sent a charming caricature of his son, who will be six in October. I know he sent a note when his son was born, but I can’t remember his name. The grandparents are Irene and Norton Starr, who moved from Amherst to Kansas City to be near the child.

The Jones Library has a free summer movie series. “La Bamba” will be shown July 21 at 2:30 p.m. Movies are also scheduled Aug. 11 and 18. Check the website for titles.

The League of Women Voters, of which I am a member, is holding its annual book sale July 27, 28 and 29 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Fort River Elementary School. On July 27 the sale will remain open until 7 p.m. I have been sorting and there are lots and lots of books and records and CDs.
