The Fire Department is holding its annual Open House Oct. 13 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Central Fire Station. Kids can sit in the trucks and get free fire-engine red helmets plus pencils. Firefighters will answer questions about smoke and carbon monoxide detectors. This is fire prevention month and the devices are critical as residents turn on the heat and plug in heaters for the winter. Don’t take chances.
