Happy Easter to all our Christian friends and neighbors.

Garden report: The daffodils are in bloom. I cut some and the bright yellow color brightens my kitchen. The autumn sedum is up an inch. The lilac bush has green tips.

To put the seasons in perspective, the people Australia and New Zealand have ended summer and now begin fall.

David Ranen, retired Amherst Regional Middle School teacher, sent me an email, which I will share.

“Steve Zakon-Anderson is a math teacher at ARMS. Steve, a cook/baker by hobby, is running an after school cooking club. It is done on Zoom and he averages 10-15 students. They “come” to class with their supplies and their video screens on. They cook whatever is on tap for that day. Steve sends out an ingredient list ahead of time.

“It’s just another example of how ARMS faculty is teaching students and going the extra mile.”

Thanks, Dave.

The Annual Daffodil Run to benefit Big Brothers Big Sisters of Hampshire County will again be held virtually April. 25. You run, walk or jog for 5 or 10 kilometers. Enjoy the daffodils or crocus or hyacinths and budding trees that you pass.

Go to runreg.com/9718 to register and make donations.

I was able to hang out the laundry twice last week and this past week as well. The temperature has to be at least 50 degrees and, of course, the sun has to be out.

The League of Women Voters, of which I am a member, is hosting a two-part series on running for elective office in Amherst. Every seat is up for grabs this November and there is no primary. The first session will be held Thursday, April 8, at 7 p.m. and includes a panel of local residents who ran for office.

The next session will be held Thursday, April 15, at 7 p.m. and deal with campaign financing with two residents who served as campaign treasurers as well as Jason Tait, director of communications and public education at the state Office of Campaign and Political Finance.

There will be a question and answer period at each session.

You can register for the webinars at lwvamherst.org.

The League has produced a Guide to Running for Elective Office that will be available on the website after final proofreading.

Full disclosure: I will be the moderator for the second forum.
