Easter greetings to all our Christian friends and neighbors.

Gigi Barnhart of Amherst sent me an email reminding me of a talk by Kenneth Gloss, proprietor of the Brattle Book Shop, April 20 at 6 p.m. at the Jones Library.

He will discuss the history of,the shop founded in 1825. If there is time he will provide free appraisals of books. The event is free and cosponsored by the Friends of the Jones Library and the Amherst Society. But donations are very welcome.

Gigi also told me about another event. Nancy Scherer, political science professor at Wellesley College, will speak on “The Supreme Court in Today’s World,” April 18 at 7 p.m. in the Jones Library. While she is speaking to the Wellesley Club of the Pioneer Valley, the meeting is free and open to the public.

What a difference warm weather makes. The buds on trees are opening, plants have popped through the soil and I saw mosquitoes.
