Amherst Police

* Evan L. Montuori, 20, of Stony Hill Road, was arrested Sept. 29 at 2:31 a.m. at his home on a probation violation after he tampered with his electronic monitoring device, police said.

Montuori was also arrested Sept. 26 at 12:08 p.m. at his home on a probation warrant, police said.

* Sean G. Sanderson, 21, of Bridgewater, was arrested Sept. 27 at 1:24 a.m. on East Pleasant Street on charges of operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol, negligent operation of a motor vehicle and failure to stay within marked lanes, police said.

Sanderson's vehicle was stopped by police after he nearly struck two pedestrians on a sidewalk, police said.

* Nicholas R. Vogt, 27, of North Main Street, South Deerfield, was arrested Sept. 27 at 1:07 a.m. on Main Street on charges of operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol, possession of an open container of alcohol in a motor vehicle and failure to stay within marked lanes, police said.

* An enforcement action on unlawful possession of kegs during the last weekend in September led Amherst police to issue $200 tickets to two residents.

On Sept. 26 at 12:10 a.m., police responded to a Main Street home for a complaint of loud noise coming from a party. Four officers spent 15 minutes at the location removing more than 300 guests, all college-age people gathered in both the front and back yards.

After observing that many of the party-goers had plastic cups filled with beer, officers asked residents if they had a keg. When the keg was located, a 22-year-old Chelmsford man was issued a $200 citation for unlawful possession of a keg.

Police also seized an unlicensed keg from the Mayo-Smith House on the Amherst College campus Sept. 26 at 9:12 p.m. A 21-year-old North Easton man was issued a $200 citation for the offense.

The only other major incident occurred Sept. 27 at 12:12 a.m., when police responded to a Triangle Street home near the corner of Kellogg Avenue, where more than 200 people were gathered at a party.

Jonathan A. Crush, 20, of Triangle Street, and Daniel S. Breeling and Matthew S. Yogel, both 20 and of Needham, were all arrested on charges of violating the town's noise bylaw, police said.

Police also summoned or arrested 10 individuals between the night of Sept. 25 and morning of Sept. 27 for violating the town's open container bylaw, two people for being minors in possession of alcohol and two people for being both minors in possession of alcohol and violating the open container bylaw.

* Ralph W. Reed, 45, who provided an address as the streets of Amherst, was arrested Sept. 25 at 1:52 p.m. at the Amherst Survival Center on a charge of disorderly conduct after he was found yelling and screaming at people, police said.

Reed had earlier been in downtown Amherst, yelling obscenities at parents and their children, police said.

* A fistfight outside the downtown bars early on the morning of Sept. 25 led police to make two arrests and summon a third person to court.

Tyrus Stinson, 24, of Echo Village Apartments, and Grayson C. Dorvel, 22, of Wrentham, were both arrested after they were found involved in a large disturbance at 12:56 a.m., police said.

Stinson was arrested on a charge of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, a shod foot, while Dorvel was arrested on a charge of disorderly conduct, police said.

Both men suffered minor injuries that didn't require medical attention, police said.

A 19-year-old Hadley man who was involved in the same disturbance will be summoned to court on a charge of assault and battery causing serious bodily injury after he struck a person in the face, knocking out two of the person's teeth, police said.

* Police took a report Sept. 24 at 9:27 p.m. that someone cut the screen to a Mill Valley Estates residence, entered the home and stole two laptops, an X-box game console and cash. Police are investigating the break-in.

* A 19-year-old Amherst man, a 15-year-old Amherst girl and a 14-year-old Amherst girl will all be summoned to court on charges of shoplifting by concealment after they attempted to steal items from the CVS Pharmacy on North Pleasant Street Sept. 24 at 5:35 p.m., police said.

* Adena L. Lavin, 19, of Watchung, N.J., was arrested Sept. 24 at 1:26 a.m. on College Street on charges of operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol and failure to stay within marked lanes, police said.

* A Mill Hollow Apartments resident reported Sept. 23 at 6:14 a.m. that a man making moaning sounds stuck his head through a window to her Summer Street home and woke her up. The man was not located. Police are investigating whether the incident is related to calls to police at 3:04 a.m. and 3:57 a.m. in which one Brandywine Apartments resident reported a man moaning outside the windows and another resident reported a person was jiggling the door knob to the home.

* A 57-year-old Belchertown woman will be summoned to court on charges of trespassing and making annoying telephone calls after she was found inside the Bangs Community Center Sept. 22 at 5:57 p.m., police said.

The woman had earlier been issued a trespass notice from the building after she bothered people there and repeatedly made hang-up phone calls to an office, police said.

* A man walking on North East Street Oct. 3 at 12:30 p.m. reported to police Monday at 12:27 p.m. that he was attacked by a large rotweiler that broke loose from its chain. The dog attempted to bite the man and ripped his pants.

Animal Welfare Officer Carol Hepburn said she has located the dog and its owner and is resolving the issue by requiring the dog be kept under restraint.

* Police took reports Monday at 10:20 a.m. and 1:29 p.m. that vehicles parked on Belchertown Road were broken into. An iPod, car stereo and a GPS navigational unit were among the items stolen, police said.

* Miguel A. Saravia, 26, of Colonial Village, was arrested Monday at 6:55 a.m. at an Amherst home on a charge of disorderly conduct after he refused to stop bothering a resident who earlier had thrown a party for him, police said.

* Frank Orlando, 42, of Northampton, was arrested Sunday at 8:35 p.m. at the police station on a charge of violating a restraining order, police said.

* A wallet was stolen from a vehicle with its top down. It was parked on North Pleasant Street in an incident reported to police Sunday at 4:02 p.m.

* Puffton Village residents reported Sunday at 8:13 a.m. that their apartment was broken into and a Wii game system valued at $350 was stolen.

* Loud parties, disturbances and underage alcohol consumption led to police arresting or summoning to court 18 people during the first weekend in October.

Four 20-year-old Weymouth men were arrested Oct. 3 at 12:30 a.m. at an East Pleasant Street home on charges of violating the town's noise bylaw after police responded to the home for a party with 150 to 200 guests both inside the home and in the back yard, police said.

Those arrested were Richard F. Cassani Jr., Patrick H. Doyle, Michael L. Magnell and Stephen C. Trudeau, police said.

Nicholas M. Mendes, 18, and Joseph J. Starkey, 17, both of Boston, were arrested Sunday at 2:02 a.m. at a Northampton Road home on charges of disorderly conduct after they were found fighting while police were breaking up a loud party with 200 people, police said.

An additional 12 people were arrested or summoned to court for walking on streets with open containers of alcohol, police said.

* Fights at Townehouse Apartments, where between 1,000 and 2,000 people had gathered on the night of Oct. 2, caused injuries to several people and led police to arrest a Holyoke man who struck a person in the face with a beer bottle.

Police Detective David Foster said officers responded at 9:59 p.m. to the Meadow Street complex after getting a report of an attempted break-in at one of the apartments. Residents there told police that a group of men tried to get into their apartment, and when they went outside to confront the men, the victims were thrown to the ground, kicked and struck with bottles.

A 20-year-old Canton man who is a student at the University of Massachusetts suffered injuries when he was hit in the face with a bottle and several of his teeth were pushed in. The man went to the UMass Infirmary for treatment.

Nicholas S. Williamson, 19, of Holyoke, was arrested on a charge of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, a glass bottle, police said.

Williamson, who is not a UMass student, was held for the weekend at the Hampshire County Jail and House of Correction in lieu of $1,000 cash bail, and was to be arraigned in Eastern Hampshire District Court on Monday.

At 1:55 a.m. on Oct. 3, police found additional victims who had apparently been injured by the same group of 10 to 15 men. Many of the victims had minor abrasions, but one man, who had blood splattered on his clothing, appeared to have a broken hand. The man said he was in a great deal of pain but refused medical attention.

According to the police report, two men had punched the victim several times after he yelled at them to stay off a vehicle they were jumping on.

Foster said the incidents remain under investigation and that additional people will be facing charges.

Townehouse Apartments has been a popular gathering place in recent years for party-goers because of its proximity to the UMass campus and the regular PVTA buses that run to the complex.

* A 22-year-old Marshfield man will be summoned to court on a charge of larceny under $250 after he was found carrying a Department of Public Works detour sign on North Pleasant Street near Berkshire Terrace Oct. 3 at 2:09 a.m., police said.

* Israel T. Anderson, 24, of Springfield, was arrested Oct. 2 at 5:18 p.m. on Boltwood Walk on two outstanding warrants from Springfield District Court, police said.

Anderson was arrested after police responded to a verbal altercation at the location, police said.

* Maggie E. Gentile, 20, of Orange, Conn., was arrested Oct. 2 at 2:34 a.m. on North Pleasant Street on charges of operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol and failure to stay within marked lanes, police said.

* Aaron M. Snow, 26, of North Whitney Street, was arrested Oct. 2 at 1:40 a.m. on South Pleasant Street on charges of operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol and operating a motor vehicle with a lights violation, police said.

* Maurine Braun, 21, of Milford, was arrested Oct. 2 at 12:47 a.m. on East Pleasant Street on charges of operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol and failure to stay within marked lanes, police said.

* Samuel S. Lichter, 22, of Weston, was arrested Oct. 1 at 1:04 a.m. on North Pleasant Street on a charge of disorderly conduct, police said.

Lichter was arrested after he was found urinating into the roadway in front of the downtown bars while they were letting out, police said.

* A 22-year-old Chicopee woman will be summoned to court on charges of negligent operation of a motor vehicle and failure to stay within marked lanes after the vehicle she was driving on College Street Oct. 1 at 12:46 a.m. crashed into a railing beneath the railroad overpass, police said.

The woman suffered a minor knee injury and was transported by Amherst Fire Department ambulance to Cooley Dickinson Hospital in Northampton for treatment.

Police said Amherst College police had observed the vehicle going too fast. The woman then apparently lost control when she swerved the vehicle to avoid hitting a pedestrian, police said.

* Alyssa M. Spinosa, 22, of Lexington, was arrested Sept. 30 at 1:53 a.m. on Northampton Road on charges of operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol and failure to stay within marked lanes, police said.

* Between Sept. 22 and Sept. 29, police recovered two bicycles, a debit card, three wallets, a purse and a passport. Police checked for speeding vehicles on North Pleasant Street, Fearing Street, Lincoln Avenue, Sunderland Road, Amity Street, East Hadley Road, East Pleasant Street, Pine Street, Potwine Lane and Belchertown Road, provided nine courtesy escorts and one escort for a funeral, checked the well being of 11 residents and stopped vehicles on Amherst streets and issued three warnings for operating with defective license plate lights, four warnings for operating with malfunctioning headlights, one warning for operating with an equipment violation, two warnings for failure to stay within marked lanes, two warnings for failure to stop at stop signs, one warning for failure to use care in starting and three warnings for operating with expired inspection stickers.

Police responded to false alarms at three businesses, five residences and the high school and checked on vehicles parked on Glendale Road, Cottage Street and West Street and at the Station Road entrance to the Norwottuck Rail Trail, Mill River Recreation Area, the Notch Visitors Center and the high school.

* Between Sept. 29 and Oct. 6, police recovered two licenses, a bullet, a Blackberry device, an ID, a credit card, scuba gear, a checkbook, a bag of marijuana and a pair of eyeglasses. Police checked for speeding vehicles on Northampton Road, West Street, Bay Road, North East Street, Pomeroy Lane, Sunderland Road and East Hadley Road, provided one courtesy escort and one escort for a funeral, checked the well being of five residents and stopped vehicles on Amherst streets and issued six warnings for operating without headlights, two warnings for operating with no license plates, one warning for operating an unlicensed taxi, three warnings for failure to stay within marked lanes, two warnings for failure to stop at stop signs, three warnings for operating with malfunctioning license plate lights, two warnings for operating with inspection sticker violations, one warning for operating with an expired registration, one warning for blocking a fire engine, one warning for failure to stop at a red light, one warning for operating a vehicle making harsh and objectionable noise and one warning fur unsafe operation of a motor vehicle.

Police responded to false alarms at seven businesses, two residences and Town Hall and checked on vehicles parked on University Drive and West Street and at Puffer's Pond.

Hadley Police

* Two Belchertown residents were seriously injured in a head-on collision on Bay Road Sept. 28 at 10 a.m.

Eugene Blanchette, 73, and Robert Wilson, 66, were both taken to Baystate Medical Center in Springfield. Wilson was listed in serious condition Sept. 28, while Blanchette was listed in serious condition, according to a hospital spokesman.

The cause of the accident, which tied up traffic for about two hours, is still under investigation.

* Mark A. Sadlowski Jr., 17, of Chmura Road, was arrested Sept. 28 at 1:24 a.m. at a Hadley location on charges of being a minor transporting alcohol and disorderly conduct, police said.

* Four vehicles parked at Route 9 locations were broken into and GPS devices were stolen from them in incidents reported Sept. 26 between 9:26 and 9:38 p.m., police said.

* Three solar lanterns were reported stolen from the front of a Huntington Road home Sept. 26 at 9:51 a.m.

* A 14-year-old girl was arrested Sept. 25 at 10 p.m. at the Hampshire Mall on a charge of shoplifting after she left a store without paying for a pair of jeans and a sweater valued at $57.98, police said.

* Police took a report Sept. 20 at 9:46 p.m. from a man who he noticed someone trying to break into his car parked on South Maple Street. The man fled toward the Norwottuck Rail Trail but was not located after efforts to track him with state police K-9 team.

* Jessica Ahern, 18, of Wallingford, Conn., and George Veve, 18, of Burlington, Vt., were both arrested Sept. 20 at 4 p.m. on Route 9 on charges of being minors in possession of alcohol, police said.

Matthew Kazierad, 21, of Westfield, was arrested at the same time and place on a charge of procuring alcohol for minors, police said.

* A loud party with 400 people at a South Maple Street home Sept. 19 at 10:45 p.m. was shut down by police because a large bonfire had been started without any permits.

* Andrew Straus, 20, of Mattapoisett, was arrested Sept. 19 at 6:02 p.m. on Route 9 on charges of operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol and possession of a fake ID, police said.

* Eric G. Liebert, 46, of Northampton, was arrested Sunday at 3:13 p.m. at Hampshire Mall on a charge of shoplifting after he left a store without paying for $147.44 worth of cleaning products, Pop-Tarts and magazines, police said.

* A GPS system and a laptop were reported stolen Oct. 3 at 8:44 p.m. from a vehicle parked at the Hampshire Mall that had a window smashed to gain entry.

* A Lawrence Plain Road resident told police Oct. 2 at 2:40 p.m. that he saw men taking his corn. He told them to put the corn back, which they did before fleeing.

* John L. Kydd, 30, of Village Park, Amherst, was arrested Sept. 30 at 11:13 a.m. at Hampshire Mall on charges of shoplifting, malicious destruction of property, resisting arrest, disorderly conduct and larceny after he allegedly tried to leave a mall store without paying for $190.12 in baby formula, police said.

* Vehicles driven by Erin M. Fish, 32, of Granby, and Michael F. Curtin, 69, of Meadowbrook Drive, collided at the intersection of Rocky Hill Road and North Maple Street Sept. 29 at 5:07 p.m., police said.

Curtin was transported by Amherst Fire Department to Cooley Dickinson Hospital in Northampton, where he was treated and released.

* Audrey K. Yonda, 19, of Florence, was arrested Sept. 29 at 12:33 p.m. at the Super Stop & Shop at Campus Shopping Plaza on a charge of shoplifting after she left the store without paying for four DVDs and yogurt valued at $46.90, police said.

UMass Police

* Edward F. Wolfersdorf, 19, of East Quogue, N.Y., and Matthew C. Burgess, 19, of Cohasset, were both arrested Sept. 22 at 11:54 p.m. on Infirmary Way on charges of larceny of a motor vehicle, receiving a stolen motor vehicle and disorderly conduct, police said.

Wolfersdorf was also arrested on charges of leaving the scene of a personal injury accident, leaving the scene of a property damage accident and wanton destruction of property over $250, police said.

The two students were arrested after they stole one of the university's electric vehicles, rolled it down Orchard Hill and crashed it into a guardrail outside Brooks dormitory.

Burgess suffered minor injuries in the accident when his head struck the windshield and he was ejected from the vehicle. When the two students were located at a dorm, Burgess was in the process of treating himself for the injuries he suffered, police said.

* Tyler Palmer, 19, of Lunenburg, was arrested Sept. 22 at 4:44 p.m. on Observatory Road on an outstanding warrant, police said.

* 1:11 p.m. - Police are investigating an incident in which a child shot a friend in the ear with a BB gun.

* 6:37 p.m. - Youths causing problems by hanging out on the golf course at Hickory Ridge Country Club were warned about their behavior.

CITIZEN ASSISTANCE

* 5:52 a.m. - Police advised two homeless men to stay away from each other after one tried to get the other in trouble by reporting that he was using the side of a downtown building as a bathroom.

* 5:40 p.m. - A homeless woman was issued a trespass notice from management at a downtown restaurant.

* 9:24 p.m. - A missing teenage girl was located at a Rolling Green Drive home, where she got permission to stay for the night.

* 9:32 p.m. - Police searched for a missing teenage girl without success. The girl came in to the police station at 5:34 a.m. the following day but refused to tell police where she had been.

DISTURBANCES

* 8:09 p.m. - A Southpoint Apartments resident applied for a restraining order following a verbal altercation with a man.

ANIMAL COMPLAINTS

* 11:35 a.m. - A black Labrador retriever running in and out of traffic on North Pleasant Street was reported to police by a PVTA bus driver.

MOTOR VEHICLE ACCIDENTS

* 8:51 a.m. - A bicycle and motorcycle collided on East Pleasant Street, causing minor damage and no personal injuries, police said.

* 9:45 a.m. - A hit-and-run vehicle that struck two vehicles on Main Street was located in Hadley a short time later, police said.

* 12:04 p.m. - Deborah J. Reynolds-Joffe, 56, of Wales, was issued a citation for leaving the scene of a property damage accident following a hit-and-run accident in the Amherst Dental Group parking lot on Main Street, police said.

* 2:30 p.m. - A minor accident with no personal injuries took place at the intersection of North Pleasant and Phillips streets, police said.

WEDNESDAY, SEPT. 23

SUSPICIOUS ACTIVITY

* 1:18 a.m. - People kicking the newspaper machines on North Pleasant Street near Bruegger's were sent on their way.

* 5:26 p.m. - A homeless man who took a mattress from a Dumpster on South East Street and then threw it into the street was located and warned to remove it from the road or be issued a ticket for littering.

CITIZEN ASSISTANCE

* 4:01 p.m. - A bicycle stolen from a Hampshire College student in late August was found at a bike rack on Main Street. Police are investigating the incident after the bicycle was determined to have been sold to a local store.

DISTURBANCES

* 1:38 p.m. - A woman yelling obscenities while outside the Carriage Shops, and telling passers-by she was upset because no one wants to be her friend, was calmed down and sent on her way.

LARCENY

* 8:37 a.m. - A saxophone valued at $1,600 was reported stolen from a student at the middle school.

MOTOR VEHICLE ACCIDENTS

* 12:59 p.m. - A PVTA bus took a corner too sharply and struck a vehicle at the intersection of East Pleasant Street and Eastman Lane, police said.

* 5:50 p.m. - A minor rearending accident on Main Street involving a PVTA bus was reported, police said.

TRAFFIC

* 2:43 p.m. - A man reported walking and crawling in the middle of the intersection of Main and North Pleasant streets told police he was just cleaning up debris.

THURSDAY, SEPT. 24

CITIZEN ASSISTANCE

* 5:13 p.m. - A homeless man causing problems at the Amherst Survival Center was removed by police. At 11:16 a.m. the following day, the drunken man was sent on his way from the Bangs Community Center.

DISTURBANCES

* 12:50 p.m. - A homeless man walked into a downtown store and began harassing customers for money, telling them he needed to buy a new pair of pants after he had one pair of pants stolen from him and he was forced to walk around only wearing underwear. The man fled before police got there.

LARCENY

* 12:57 a.m. - A man who attempted to take a bottle of rum from a downtown restaurant was issued a trespass notice to stay away from the business.

* 2:45 p.m. - A 15-year-old child caught shoplifting was issued a trespass notice and turned over to the custody of a parent.

BREAK-INS

* 4:35 p.m. - Two bicycles were reported stolen from inside Phi Sigma Kappa on North Pleasant Street.

ASSAULTS

* 9:11 a.m. - A man claims he was injured when the driver of a PVTA bus deliberately shut the door onto his head. Police are investigating.

NOISE COMPLAINTS

* 10:54 p.m. - Phillips Street residents were issued a verbal warning to keep their guests inside after more than 100 college students were found loitering in the area and making loud noise.

MOTOR VEHICLE ACCIDENTS

* 12:44 p.m. - A vehicle parked on North Prospect Street sustained minor damage when another vehicle hit it, police said.

FRIDAY, SEPT. 25

SUSPICIOUS ACTIVITY

* 9:37 a.m. - A homeless man sleeping in the lobby to Cathedral Apartments was sent on his way and advised to remove his trash.

* 5:30 p.m. - Officials at the post office told police a suspicious man photographed a postal vehicle on Montague Road.

CITIZEN ASSISTANCE

* 6:03 p.m. - Police spoke to two men who accused each other of making annoying phone calls to each other.

LARCENY

* 10:07 a.m. - A bag containing a wallet and medication was reported stolen from a vehicle parked on an Amherst street.

BREAK-INS

* 5:24 a.m. - A Puffton Village woman awoke to fund a man standing in her living room. The man, who may have been intoxicated and entered through an unlocked door, fled. Nothing was reported stolen.

FIGHTS

* 8:47 p.m. - Two women fighting at Village Park declined to press charges against each other.

NOISE COMPLAINTS

* 1:55 a.m. - A Kendrick Place resident reported being harassed by several men who were staying at a nearby home and were upset about complaints made about loud noise. The men were warned to stop knocking on the neighbor's door and yelling obscenities at him.

* 4:41 p.m. - Police issued a $100 noise ticket to a Bridge Street woman who deliberately left her stereo blaring to annoy her neighbor. The woman received the ticket after returning home from a walk.

ANIMAL COMPLAINTS

* 11:17 a.m. - A short-haired yellow dog loose on Henry Street was returned to its owner, who was told to get the dog licensed.

MOTOR VEHICLE ACCIDENTS

* 1:35 p.m. - Eronide Durandisse, 21, of Brockton, was issued a citation for failure to use care in turning after the vehicle she was driving on the Route 116 bypass near Meadow Street collided head on with a vehicle driven by Ashley M. Brundage, 21, of Wellfleet, police said.

Durandisse suffered injuries and was transported by Amherst Fire Department ambulance to Cooley Dickinson Hospital in Northampton, where she was treated and released, according to a hospital spokeswoman.

Both vehicles sustained extensive damage and were towed from the scene, police said.

* 3:04 p.m. - A minor hit-and-run accident with no personal injuries was reported in the Atkins Farms Country Market parking lot, police said.

* 6:13 p.m. - A cat struck by a vehicle on Columbia Drive was brought to Hampshire Veterinary Hospital for treatment.

SATURDAY, SEPT. 26

DISTURBANCES

* 1:27 a.m. - Police kept the peace outside the downtown bars where two men were seen trying to start fights.

LARCENY

* 10:29 a.m. - Jewelry and cash were reported stolen from the bedroom of a North Pleasant Street home.

VANDALISM

* 9:20 a.m. - Hedges outside a Fearing Street home were damaged sometime overnight, possibly by people returning from the downtown bars.

BREAK-INS

* 9:24 p.m. - Two laptops were stolen from an Eames Place home, but no forced entry was observed.

FIGHTS

* 12:41 a.m. - A man complained of pain to his jaw after he was involved in a fight on North Pleasant Street.

* 1:47 a.m. - Police took a report that a man was punched and pushed to the ground on North Pleasant Street.

NOISE COMPLAINTS

* 12:07 a.m. - A loud birthday party was reported at Mill Valley Estates and the residents were spoken to. At 2:56 a.m., the party was found to have moved to Glendale Road, where both men who live there were issued $100 tickets for violating the town's noise bylaw.

MOTOR VEHICLE ACCIDENTS

* 1:30 p.m. - Harshit Joshi, 24, of Puffton Village, suffered minor injuries after he was pushing his disabled motor vehicle in the Boltwood lot on Main Street when he lost control of the vehicle, which continued down an incline before striking a parked vehicle, police said.

Joshi got pinned between the door he was holding and the parked vehicle. He was transported by Amherst Fire Department ambulance to Cooley Dickinson Hospital in Northampton, where he was treated and released, according to a hospital spokeswoman.

* 1:43 a.m. - Someone pulled an air conditioner out of a Sunset Avenue home in a possible attempt to enter the residence.

* 12:57 p.m. - Amherst residents called police to report that a sibling opened a fraudulent credit card account using their late mother's name.

DISTURBANCES

* 5:05 a.m. - A man refusing to leave a South Prospect Street home was removed by police.

ASSAULTS

* 1:08 a.m. - A Malden man was punched in the head while at Brandywine Apartments, but refused medical attention.

* 5:09 a.m. - A college student suffered minor abrasions to his face after he was struck in the face on Phillips Street. Police are investigating.

MOTOR VEHICLE ACCIDENTS

* 9:49 a.m. - A vehicle parked at the Jewish Community Center sustained minor damage when it was struck by a second vehicle that fled the scene, police said.

* 1:31 p.m. - One vehicle was towed following a two car collision with no personal injuries at the corner of Dickinson and College streets, police said.

* 5:07 p.m. - Zoraia D. Barros, 29, of North Prospect Street, was issued a citation for failure to stop at a stop sign after the vehicle she was driving from the entrance to Southpoint Apartments onto East Hadley Road collided with a vehicle driven by Rosanne K. Helden, 62, of Baldwin, N.Y., police said.

Flavia Araujo, 34, of Southpoint Apartments and a passenger in Barros' vehicle, complained of pain and was transported by Amherst Fire Department ambulance to Cooley Dickinson Hospital in Northampton, where she was treated and released, police said.

Both vehicles were towed from the scene, police said.

* 10:20 a.m., 10:37 a.m. and 5:09 p.m. - Minor two-car accident with no personal injuries occurred at the intersection of Amity Street and University Drive and in the parking lots at Atkins Farms Country Market and Discount Mattress, police said.

* 6:06 p.m. - Police said they received a report from a man whose vehicle suffered minor damage when it was struck by a hit-and-run vehicle on College Street.

* 1:27 a.m. and 1:41 a.m. - Four people urinating near the corner of North Pleasant Street and Kellogg Avenue and behind the downtown bars were issued warnings and sent on their way.

* 1:10 p.m. - A Strong Street resident told police that his cable box was stolen by a man who came to install satellite television at his home.

* 5:55 p.m. - A backpack with an iPod inside it was stolen from outside the high school after a student left it on the lawn.

* 9:16 a.m. and 3:17 p.m. - Minor two-car accidents with no personal injuries took place on North Pleasant Street near the Carriage Shops and at the intersection of Meadow and North Pleasant streets, police said.

* 1:39 a.m. - Police issued a warning for unlicensed taxi operation to the driver of a van who stopped on North Pleasant Street near the downtown bars and offered people free rides. Police said the same man has been issued multiple warnings by UMass police for having an unlicensed taxi.

THURSDAY, OCT. 1

SUSPICIOUS ACTIVITY

* 6:31 p.m. - Police spoke to a youth shooting a BB gun in the area of Mill Valley Estates. The boy denied firing the weapon. At 7:15 p.m., police spoke to the boy's parents, who insisted there was no BB gun in the house.

* 8:36 p.m. - A homeless man sleeping in the entrance way to the Jones Library was awoken and sent on his way.

CITIZEN ASSISTANCE

* 11:12 p.m. - A man at a downtown bar requested police assistance in getting his ID card back from a bouncer. When police got it back for him, they determined it was not his ID, and confiscated the ID and sent the man on his way after issuing him a warning.

LARCENY

* 7:24 p.m. - Prescription medication was reported stolen from an Echo Village Apartments residence.

BREAK-INS

* 10:40 p.m. - A laptop was taken from an unlocked vehicle parked on South East Street.

* 3:25 p.m. - A loose terrier and poodle mix found at the corner of Strong and North East streets was brought to the pound.

* 10:57 a.m. - An Amherst woman came to the police station to express concern about a homeless man's conduct in front of teenage girls.

* 3:42 p.m. - A resident at Pulpit Hill Co-housing reported two men illegally dumped a television set in the community's Dumpster at 5:30 p.m. the previous day. Police are trying to locate the vehicle the men were driving.

* 11:14 p.m. - A Village Park woman was referred to civil court after she paid another woman money toward the purchase of a vehicle but was not given the title to the vehicle.

* 10:41 a.m. - A man causing a scene at a College Street restaurant after getting what he considered poor service was issued a trespass notice to stay out of the establishment.

* 1:47 a.m. - A man urinating at the corner of North Pleasant Street and Kellogg Avenue was sent on his way.

CITIZEN ASSISTANCE

* 4:39 p.m. - A panhandler being aggressive toward passers-by on Main Street was sent on his way. At 5:23 p.m., the same man was seen hitting another homeless man on North Pleasant Street. He was warned about his actions and told police he would be heading to Northampton for the rest of the night.

* 9:32 p.m. - Police warned a homeless man standing in the middle of North Pleasant Street to get out of the roadway.

DISTURBANCES

* 10:36 p.m. - Police determined 25 college-age people running on Potwine Lane attempting to damage property were attending a party on the street. The residents were warned about the behavior of their guests and the landlord was notified about the incident.

VANDALISM

* 9:07 a.m. - An American flag flying outside a College Street business was torn down by vandals sometime overnight.

BREAK-INS

* 9:33 a.m. - A car parked on North Pleasant Street was broken into, but nothing appeared to be missing from it.

MOTOR VEHICLE ACCIDENTS

* 11:35 a.m. - Joseph Garstka, 57, of Hardwick, was issued a citation for failure to use care in turning after the vehicle he was driving at the corner of Amity and South Prospect streets collided with a vehicle driven by Kate C. Robert, 27, of Research Drive, police said.

Robert was examined at the scene by Amherst Fire Department ambulance personnel, police said.

Both vehicles were towed from the scene, according to police.

* 2:22 p.m. - A minor two-car accident with no personal injuries took place at the intersection of Main and Triangle streets, police said.

* 3:30 p.m. - A person's foot was run over by a vehicle on Main Street, police said.

SUSPICIOUS ACTIVITY

* 4:40 a.m. - Two people found by UMass police who had stolen bicycles from Lincoln Avenue were stopped and told to return the property. The owner of the bicycles told Amherst police he didn't want to press charges against the suspects.

FIGHTS

* 2:35 a.m. - A fight was reported at Puffton Village but no combatants were located when police got there. More than 100 guests were at the loud party and were cleared out, while the residents were issued a verbal warning.

MOTOR VEHICLE ACCIDENTS

* 4:28 p.m. - One driver was issued a citation for failure to use care in starting following a minor two-car accident with no personal injuries at the intersection of Triangle and Mattoon streets, police said.

* 5:46 p.m. - Jamie P. Fisher-Hertz, 17, of Highland, N.Y., was issued a written warning for failure to use care in stopping after the vehicle she was driving at the corner of Eastman Lane and East Pleasant Street collided with a vehicle driven by Changho Ok, 39, of North Pleasant Street, police said.

Joann Ok, 3, and Isaac Ok, 7 months, both passengers in Changho Ok's vehicle, were transported by Amherst Fire Department ambulance to Cooley Dickinson Hospital in Northampton, where they were treated and released, according to a hospital spokeswoman.

Both vehicles were towed from the scene after sustaining in excess of $1,000 in damage, police said.

* 6:46 p.m. - Lorna M. Moran-Richmond, 16, of Foxglove Lane, was issued a citation for failure to use care in turning after the vehicle she was driving from the Cumberland Farms parking lot on Belchertown Road collided with a vehicle driven by Maria M. Crespo, 51, of Logtown Road, police said.

Crespo suffered a neck injury and was transported by Amherst Fire Department ambulance to Cooley Dickinson Hospital in Northampton, where she was treated and released, according to a hospital spokeswoman.

Crespo's vehicle was towed from the scene, police said.

MONDAY, OCT. 5

SUSPICIOUS ACTIVITY

* 5:25 p.m. - Police spoke to two South Whitney Street residents about rules regarding where BB guns can be shot after neighbors complained they were shooting them at small birds and animals.

ANIMAL COMPLAINTS

* 4:38 p.m. - The animal welfare officer spoke to Arbor Way residents about a dog issue.

* 4:47 p.m. - A brown dog loose on East Pleasant Street was brought to the shelter.

MOTOR VEHICLE ACCIDENTS

* 2:18 p.m. - Michael J. Monleon, 18, of East Pleasant Street, was driving his vehicle from Hallock Street onto North Prospect Street when he overcompensated in making the turn and the vehicle went off the road, striking a utility pole, police said.

Monleon suffered minor injuries when the airbags deployed and was examined at the scene by Amherst Fire Department personnel, police said.

The vehicle was towed from the scene, police said.
