Amherst Police

* Police took a report of a break-in to a Puffton Village home Monday at 6:06 a,m. in which a man wearing a black hoodie was seen exiting the residence with a 42-inch flat-screen television. The man placed the set on a bicycle and fled the scene. Police are investigating.

* A 23-year-old Amherst woman will be summoned to court on charges of domestic assault and battery and assault with a dangerous weapon after she went inside a downtown convenience store Sunday at 3:02 a.m. and struck her ex-boyfriend with her fists and then attempted to hit him with a boot, police said.

The man was not injured in the attack, police said.

* Andres Medina-Carreto, 21, of Amherst Road, Leverett, was arrested Sunday at 2:59 a.m. on North Pleasant Street on charges of operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol and failure to stay within marked lanes, police said.

* Kevin A. Moore, 19, of West Street, was arrested Sunday at 2 a.m. on West Street on charges of operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license, subsequent offense, operating a motor vehicle with a lights violation and operating a motor vehicle with no inspection sticker, police said.

* Police responded to a home on Phillips St. Sunday at 12:12 a.m. where 500 people were gathered for a party. Officers spent 45 minutes clearing out the party and issued $300 nuisance house citations to three 20-year-old men and two 21-year-old men.

* Juan G, Nieves-Burgos, 18, of Seelye Street, was arrested Nov. 21 at 10:10 a.m. at an Amherst home on a charge of domestic assault and battery after he grabbed a woman around her neck and punched her in the head, police said.

The woman suffered a scratch to her left ear but did not require any treatment, police said.

* Aaron L. Peaslee, 22, of South East Street, was arrested Nov. 21 at 7:14 a.m. at Puffton Village on charges of larceny from a building, larceny of drugs and possession of class E drugs, hydroxyzine and propranolol, police said.

Peaslee was a house guest at a Puffton apartment and stole two bottles of prescription medications, police said.

* A fight that spilled from a house party into the Immanuel Lutheran Church parking lot on North Pleasant Street led to the arrest of five people early on the morning of Nov. 21.

When officers got to the scene at 12:40 a.m., they tried to restore order. But some of the combatants refused to stop fighting, and police attempted to arrest Ruben Carrizosa, 22, of West Roxbury. Carrizosa refused and brought an officer to the ground with him. He then tried to flee the scene, breaking through a fence before finally being taken into custody.

Carrizosa was arrested on charges of failure to disperse from a riot, resisting arrest and wanton destruction of property over $250, police said.

The officer suffered scratches and bruises to his knees and hands.

Derrick J. Cruz, 20, of Lunenburg, Kyle T.D. Phillips, 20, of Chicopee, and Jose A. Ramirez, 19, of Framingham, were all arrested on charges of failure to disperse from a riot, while Rodolfo Ramirez Jr., 20, of Framingham, was arrested on a charge of disorderly conduct, police said.

A 21-year-old South Hadley man was issued a $300 ticket for violating the town's nuisance house bylaw, police said. He was determined to be responsible for holding the party.

* A UMass student who fell from the second floor of a Kellogg Avenue home was brought to Baystate Medical Center on the morning of Nov. 21 and is recovering from non-life threatening injuries, police said.

The man, a 20-year-old from Dorchester, fell at 3:28 a.m. and suffered fractured bones in his face, skull and pelvis. and also had at least one chipped tooth, police said.

Police investigating the incident determined that the man just lost his balance and fell over the railing. Police said they have ruled out foul play.

* A 20-year-old Andover woman will be summoned to court on a charge of domestic assault and battery after she struck her ex-boyfriend in the face during an incident at Puffton Village Nov. 20 at 9:58 p.m., police said.

The man didn't require medical attenmtion.

* Nicholas S. Williamson, 19, of Holyoke, was arrested Nov. 20 at 8:50 p.m. on Kellogg Avenue on a charge of disorderly conduct, police said.

Williamson was arrested after a break-in was reported at a Kellgog Avenue home and he became upset and out of control when asked by officers what he was doing in the neighborhood, police said.

* Richard P. Carbone, 22, of Woburn, was arrested Nov. 20 at 2:05 a.m. outside Antonio's Pizza on North Pleasant Street on a charge of wanton destruction of property over $250, police said.

Carbone was arrested after he heavily damaged the door to the restaurant when he was told it was no longer serving food because it had closed for the night, police said.

* Latoya D. Smith, 24, of North Whitney Street, was arrested Nov. 19 at 2:47 a.m. at the intersection of North Whitney and Main streets on charges of operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol and failure to stay within marked lanes, police said.

* Michael Maagero, 23, of Allen Street, was arrested Nov. 19 at 1:04 a.m. at the corner of Amity and South Pleasant streets on charges of operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol and operating a motor vehicle without headlights, police said.

* A 46-year-old Teaneck, N.J. man will be summoned to court on a charge of violating an abuse prevention order after he contacted an Amherst woman twice on Nov. 18, police said.

* Between Nov. 17 and Nov. 23, police recovered a cell phone, two ATM cards, a wallet, a purse and a bracelet. Police checked for speeding vehicles on Fearing Street, South East Street, West Pomeroy Lane and West Street, performed well-being checks on four residents, provided two courtesy escorts and stopped vehicles on Amherst streets and issued one warning for failure to stop at a stop sign, two warnings for license plate light violations, seven warnings for operating without headlights, one warning for operating with a missing license plate, one warning for being a junior operator, one warning for operating with an expired registration, five warnings for failure to stay within marked lanes and two warnings for operating with equipment violations.

Police responded to false alarms at six residences, four businesses, the high school, the middle school, Wildwood School and the ARK Episcopal Church and checked on vehicles parked at Puffton Village, Notch Visitors Center, Atkins Farms Country Market, Southpoint Apartments and Brandywine Apartments and on Amity Street, Old Belchertown Road, Pine Street, Hall Drive, Gatehouse Road, Churchill Street, Sunderland Road and Sand Hill Road.

Hadley Police

* Deirdre R. Harris, 22, of Southpoint Apartments, Amherst, was arrested Nov. 19 at 9:10 a.m. on Mill Valley Road on an outstanding warrant, police said.

* Vincent Wojciechowski, 45, of Holyoke, was arrested Nov. 17 at 3:01 p.m. at Whole Foods Market at Mountain Farms Mall on a charge of larceny over $250 after he tried to leave the store without paying for $643 worth of groceries, police said.

* Laurie V. Davidson, 37, of Montague, was arrested Nov. 17 at 1:02 p,m. at Whole Foods Market at Mountain Farms Mall on a charge of shoplifting after she tried to leave the store without paying for $113.51 worth of food and other products, police said.

* Jeffery R. Bagge, 23, of Longmeadow, was arrested Nov. 16 at 10:44 p.m. at a Hadley location on a charge of shoplifting, police said.

* Jeremy D. Malave, 18, of New Britain, Conn., was arrested Nov. 16 at 9:41 p.m. on Route 9 on an outstanding warrant, police said.

* Alexander P. Notis, 21, of Reading, was arrested Nov. 16 at 5:50 p.m. at Hampshire Mall on a charge of shoplifting, police said.

* Steven J. Gosselin, 24, of River Drive, was arrested Nov. 16 at 3:21 p.m. at a Hadley location on an outstanding warrant, police said.

* Kunjal J. Patel, 28, of Easthampton, was arrested Nov. 16 at 12:37 a.m. on Route 9 on charges of operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol and speeding, police said.

* Michael S. Kokoski, 19, of Arrowhead Drive, was arrested Nov. 15 at 8:15 p.m. on Breckenridge Road on charges of operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol, leaving the scene of a property damage accident, negligent operation of a motor vehicle and failure to stay within marked lanes, police said.

* Kristen A. Koehler, 20, of Townehouse Apartments, Amherst, was arrested Sept. 15 at 6:05 p.m. at Hampshire Mall on a charge of shoplifting, police said.

* A window to a pickup truck parked at a Route 9 hotel was smashed out and a GPS navigational unit was stolen in an incident reported to police Sept. 15 at 6:26 a.m.

* Benjamin C. Douglas, 17, of Kingman Road, Amherst, was arrestee Nov. 13 at 7:55 p.m. at Hampshire Mall on a charge of shoplifting, police said.

Pelham Police

* A Country Ln. resident called at 5:19 p.m. Nov. 4 to report an unauthorized purchase on their credit card. The caller reported that she and her husband had received a vacuum cleaner they did not purchase in the mail. The appearance of the vacuum prompted the couple to check their credit card statements, police said, whereupon they discovered the unauthorized purchase. The next day, Nov. 5, the same caller calls in at 11:48 a.m. to report that the vacuum cleaner which had arrived the previous day was now gone missing. The caller said the vacuum had been left in the shed for UPS to pickup, yet when UPS arrived the vacuum could not be found. According to police, the case is still under investigation.

UMass Police

* A Needham man, 20, and a Wilmington man, 19, will be summoned to court on charges of disorderly conduct and carrying a dangerous weapon on school grounds after they were found in the parking garage Nov. 19 at 6:49 p.m., police said.

A 21-year-old Westminser man will be summoned to court on a charge of disorderly conduct as a result of the same incident, police said.

* Michael Ramsey, 21, of Wilton, Conn., was arrested Nov. 19 at 2:17 a.m. on Access Road on charges of operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol, failure to stay within marked lanes, failure to stop/yield, possession of an open container of alcohol in a motor vehicle and unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, police said.

* Alan L. Helems Jr., 25, of Greenfield, was arrested Nov. 18 at 2:04 a.m. on North Pleasant Street on charges of operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license and speeding, police said.

* Christopher L. Barnes, 23, of Keene, N.H., was arrested Nov. 16 at 5:10 p.m. on Massachusetts Avenue on charges of unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle and failure to stop at a crosswalk, police said.

* Joseph McKinney, 22, of Danielson, Conn., was arrested Nov. 15 at 7:19 p.m. on North Pleasant Street on charges of operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license and failure to stop at a crosswalk, police said.

* Jamel Nicholson, 20, of Pittsfield, was arrested Nov. 15 at 3:37 a.m. in Lot 21 off University Drive on charges of larceny from a motor vehicle and two counts of breaking and entering into vehicles, police said.

* Mark Iantosca, 18, of Dedham, and Daniel R. Kaufman, 19, of Scotch Plains, N.J., were both arrested Nov. 15 at 1:33 a.m. on Nutting Avenue on charges of disorderly conduct, police said.

* Julie M. Kinaj, 18, of White Plains, N.Y., was arrested Nov. 15 at 1:22 a.m. on Massachusetts Avenue on charges of disorderly conduct and assault and battery, police said.

* Ryan B. Noyes, 19, of Chelmsford, was arrested Nov. 15 at 12:23 a.m. on Eastman Lane on a charge of disorderly conduct, police said.

* Matthew E. Crutch, 29, of South East Street, Amherst, was arrested Nov. 14 at 2:12 a.m. on Eastman Lane on charges of operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol and speeding, police said.

* Anne E. Crossley, 19, of Hyannis, was arrested Nov. 13 at 2:06 a.m. on Governors Drive on charges of operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol, failure to stay within marked lanes, being a minor in possession of alcohol and possession of an open container of alcohol in a motor vehicle, police said.

* Brian P. McCullough, 33, of Honey Pot Road, Hadley, was arrested Nov. 12 at 5:21 a.m. on Presidents Drive on a charge of trespassing and on two outstanding warrants, police said.

* Malcolm C. LaHage, 21, of Marshfield, was arrested Nov. 8 at 8:47 p.m. at Brett dormitory on a charge of trespassing, police said.

* Rebecca L. Tobey, 19, of Harkness Road, Amherst, was arrested Nov. 8 at 2:45 a.m. on Thatcher Road on charges of operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol, failure to stay within marked lanes and speeding, police said.

* Anthony Robinson, 21, of Brockton, was arrested Nov. 8 at 12:45 a.m. at Washington dormitory on a charge of trespassing, police said.

* John J. Paterwic, 18, of West Springfield, was arrested Nov. 7 at 11:32 p.m. on Lincoln Avenue on a charge of disorderly conduct, police said.

* Samuel A. Smith, 20, of Worcester, was arrested Nov. 7 at 2:18 a.m. at John Quincy Adams dormitory on charges of disturbing the peace and disorderly conduct, police said.

* Shashank Chandra, 21, of West Roxbury, was arrested Nov. 6 at 2:46 a.m. on Commonwealth Avenue on charges of operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol and failure to stop/yield, police said.

TUESDAY, NOV. 10

CITIZEN ASSISTANCE

* 11:44 a.m. - A man sleeping inside a vehicle parked on private property on University Drive was issued a trespass notice. Police said the man has apparently been living out of his vehicle.

* 8:31 p.m. - Chestnut Street residents requested additional police patrols after a pumpkin displayed in front of the doorway was stolen the previous night.

LARCENY

* 10:07 a.m. - A license plate was reported stolen from a vehicle parked on Bay Road.

VANDALISM

* 12:12 p.m. - The rear sliding door at a Village Park home was damaged when several eggs struck it.

MOTOR VEHICLE ACCIDENTS

* 4:18 p.m. - Ronald P. Milcarek, 53, of Halifax, Nova Scotia, was issued a citation for failure to use care in stopping after the vehicle he was driving from Snell Street onto South Pleasant Street collided with a vehicle driven by Cheryl A. Summa, 45, of Mill Lane, police said.

Damage to both vehicles was minor and no personal injuries were reported, police said.

WEDNESDAY, NOV. 11

SUSPICIOUS ACTIVITY

* 9:44 a. m. - A woman bothering people by handing out literature related to the H1N1 virus during a flu clinic at the middle school was issued a verbal trespass order.

CITIZEN ASSISTANCE

* 10:34 p.m. - A Puffton Village man told police he was concerned after an emergency evacuation order came across his television screen. Police were unable to verify the warning and spoke to several other people at the apartment complex watching television, none of whom had seen any emergency alert.

DISTURBANCES

* 2:57 p.m. - Police kept the peace at a Mill Valley Estates home after a man allegedly bit the nose of his cousin during an argument. Police are investigating the alleged assault.

RECOVERED PROPERTY

* 8:50 a.m. - An abandoned tent with a sleeping bag inside was found in the woods off Hedgerow Lane where a person may have been living in recent weeks. The tent and other property were removed from the location.

TRAFFIC

* 1:19 p.m. - A woman reported that she was driving on Belchertown Road when another woman with whom she has had problems attempted to swerve her vehicle into her travel lane to scare her and her passengers.

THURSDAY, NOV. 12

DISTURBANCES

* 3:30 p.m. - Several youths pushing and shoving each other and playing loud music with vulgar lyrics were reported to police in the area of the Bangs Community Center.

NOISE COMPLAINTS

* 6:31 p.m. - A Colonial VIllage resident complained that loud music and stomping children were causing dust to fall from the ceiling into the apartment. The upstairs neighbor told police the children's birthday party would be ending soon.

ANIMAL COMPLAINTS

* 9:22 a.m. - A stray husky dog was found getting into garbage near the Amethyst Brook Conservation Area.

* 8:49 p.m. - A loose beagle was reported on Pine Street.

MOTOR VEHICLE ACCIDENTS

* 12:55 p.m. - Wayne M. Garcia, 24, of Springfield, was issued a citation for failure to use care in stopping after the vehicle he was driving at the corner of Northampton and Blue Hills roads collided with a vehicle driven by Wilhelmina M. Eaton, 81, of 126 Gray St., police said.

Eaton and passenger Vilma Lorenzi-Luther, 74, of New York, N.Y., both complained of neck pain but refused medical treatment, police said.

Both vehicles were able to leave the scene under their own power, according to police.

* 5:24 p.m. - Margery Noel, 72, of Research Drive, was issued a written warning for failure to stay within marked lanes after the vehicle she was driving on College Street collided with a vehicle driven by Nancy T. Meagher, 53, of Arbor Way, police said.

Damage to both vehicles was minor and no personal injuries were reported, police said.

FRIDAY, NOV. 13

CITIZEN ASSISTANCE

* 3:27 p.m. - An Amherst business reported getting a suspicious call from a man stationed on an oil barge who said he wanted his employees to go to the business to get massages when they next come on shore.

* 9:52 p.m. - A VIllage Park resident told police she had an egg with a threatening message on its shell left on her doorstep, along with an envelope containing cut up photos of her children. Police are investigating the incident and believe it is related to an ongoing dispute with a neighbor.

DISTURBANCES

* 12:40 a.m. - Men who were denied entry to a downtown bar just as it was closing were upset with the doorman. Police calmed the men down and sent them on their way.

LARCENY

* 11:33 a.m. - Police took a report from a downtown store that someone paid for $163 worth of merchandise using a closed checking account.

BREAK-INS

* 10:42 a.m. - A GPS navigational unit valued at $300 was reported stolen from an unlocked vehicle parked on Eames Avenue.

ASSAULTS

* 9:48 p.m. - A man told police he was punched in the face while in the parking lot of a downtown restaurant, but didn't need medical attention. His assailant also kicked the driver's side door on his vehicle.

ANIMAL COMPLAINTS

* 11:03 a.m. - A raccoon eating from a Dumpster at Brandywine Apartments ran off into the woods when police got there. Officers determined the animal was not rabid, just hungry.

* 11:16 a.m. - A loose Labrador retriever on South Pleasant Street was brought to the station.

* 12:38 p.m. - Several piglets running loose near the corner of Bay and Hulst roads were rounded up and returned to their pen.

MOTOR VEHICLE ACCIDENTS

* 8:59 a.m. - Jose Z. Braz Jr., 45, of Monson, was issued a citation for failure to use care in stopping after the vehicle he was driving on Belchertown Road rearended a vehicle driven by Stacey Hutchinson, 40, of Easthampton, which in turn was pushed into a vehicle driven by Kira Kmetz, 46, of Belchertown, police said.

Hutchinson complained of head and leg pain and was transported by Amherst Fire Department ambulance to Cooley Dickinson Hospital in Northampton for treatment, police said.

Kmetz suffered non-incapacitating injuries, police said.

Both vehicles were towed, according to police.

* 12:30 p.m. - Madeleine J. Curtis, 18, of Justice Drive, was issued a citation for failure to grant the right of way after the vehicle she was driving from a Main Street driveway collided with a vehicle driven by Shyala Russell, 19, of Rockport, police said. Russell refused medical attention, police said.

* 12:42 p.m. - Katelyn C. Ryan, 22, of Belchertown Road, was operating her vehicle on Belchertown Road when it went off the road and struck a tree, police said.

Ryan suffered non-incapacitating injuries after the airbag deployed, police said.

Ryan told police she apparently lost consciousness and only awoke when the car crashed.

* 8:30 p.m. - Thomaskozo Cavalcanti, 20, of Webster Court, was issued a written warning for failure to stay within marked lanes after the vehicle he was driving on Northampton Road collided with a vehicle driven by Marcelina T. Warren. 51, of Stanley Street, police said.

Damage to both vehicles was minor and no personal injuries were reported, police said.

TRAFFIC

* 1:27 a.m. - Police issued a warning to the driver of a taxi cab whose vehicle had a metal piece dangling from the rear and was scraping the pavement on Main Street.

SATURDAY, NOV. 14

SUSPICIOUS ACTIVITY

* 12:51 a.m. - Police located a man who struck a vehicle with a can of beer as the vehicle was traveling on Massachusetts Avenue.

* 4:34 p.m. - A man entered a Townehouse Apartments home and used the bathroom. The resident told police the following day at 6:33 p.m. that she wanted this considered a break-in.

CITIZEN ASSISTANCE

* 2:58 p.m. - A Clark House resident told police she was threatened by a man who was upset after she took his laundry out of a laundry machine. The man said he would ruin her clothing if she touched his property again.

ASSAULTS

* 1:28 a.m. - Police said they intend to file charges against a person who punched another person in the face during an incident on South Prospect Street.

NOISE COMPLAINTS

* 12:32 a.m. - A $100 ticket was issued to a Puffton Village resident holding a loud party that took police 15 minutes for police to clear out and quiet down.

* 12:38 a.m. - Police issued a $100 noise ticket to residents at a South Prospect Street home where 200 people were partying. Police also broke up several fights and showing matches that were taking place at the location.

* 11:38 p.m. - Gray Street residents were holding a loud party with 75 guests. One of the residents was issued a $100 ticket for violating the town's noise bylaw.

MOTOR VEHICLE ACCIDENTS

* 2:14 a.m. - A woman lost control of her vehicle after she attempted to plug her cell phone charger into the cigarette lighter, police said.

The vehicle had to be towed from the scene, but the woman was not injured, police said.

* 6:24 p.m. - Edward P. Cournoyer, 49, of Worcester, was issued citations for failure to use care in turning and leaving the scene of a property damage accident after the vehicle he was driving from Main Street onto East Street collided with a vehicle driven by Rouseline Guerine, 22, of Lynn, police said.

Damage to both vehicles was minor and no personal injuries were reported, police said.

SUNDAY, NOV. 15

VANDALISM

* 3:44 p.m. - The contents of a planter on Boltwood Walk were spilled out by vandals.

BREAK-INS

* 2:36 p.m. - An unlocked vehicle parked on Grantwood Drive was entered and a laptop and two bottles containing Adderall pills were reported stolen.

NOISE COMPLAINTS

* 12:14 a.m. - Police issued a $100 noise ticket to South Whitney Street residents holding a loud party with 60 guests.

ANIMAL COMPLAINTS

* 12:45 p.m. - Police are investigating a report that a resident is running a dog fighting ring out of his basement.

* 1:38 p.m. - A black Labrador retriever loose on Middle Street was returned to its owner.

MOTOR VEHICLE ACCIDENTS

* 5:56 p.m. - Jillian C. Simon, 28, of West Palm Beach, Fla., was issued a written warning for failure to stop at a red light after the vehicle she was driving at the corner of West Street and Pomeroy Lane collided with a vehicle driven by Ellen D. Waitzkin, 57, of Hanover, N.H., police said.

Damage to both vehicles was minor and no personal injuries were reported, police said.

MONDAY, NOV. 16

SUSPICIOUS ACTIVITY

* 12:55 a.m. - A man screaming while walking in the middle of North Pleasant Street who then ducked into an alleyway and urinated was issued a warning about his behavior.

LARCENY

* 5:58 p.m. - An Amherst resident reported a possible identity theft in which someone tried to use his Social Security number to set up a phone account in California.

BREAK-INS

* 11:52 a.m. - Basement windows were kicked in at a Hobart Lane home, but police said it did not appear entry was gained to the residence.

ANIMAL COMPLAINTS

* 3:10 p.m. - A loose Golden Retriever on Sunset Avenue was found and returned to its owner by the animal welfare officer.

MOTOR VEHICLE ACCIDENTS

* 5:17 p.m. - Carol W. Rundberg, 71, of Rocky Hill Road, Hadley, was issued a citation for failure to use care in turning after the vehicle she was driving from the Rafter's parking lot onto Amity Street collided with a vehicle driven by Kimberly A. Russell, 29, of Burke Way, Hadley, police said.

Russell complained of neck and back pain and was transported by Amherst Fire Department ambulance to Cooley Dickinson Hospital in Northampton for treatment, police said.

Rundberg's vehicle was towed from the scene, police said.
